Subject: Support Sand Volleyball in the NCAA...please sign our petition.
Hello Friends and Beach Volleyball Enthusiasts,
Many of you have contacted USA Volleyball with questions as to the status of
sand volleyball in the NCAA. On January 15, 2010 there will be an override
vote led by universities who are trying to block the addition of sand to the
NCAA emerging sports list for women in 2010-2011. We need your voice to
help block this override vote!
Please take a quick moment to click on the link below to voice your support
of NCAA sand volleyball! (Below is the text of the petition.)
http://vovici.com/wsb.dll/s/2420g41250 LET US PLAY!
SUPPORT SAND VOLLEYBALL IN DIVISION I
"We, the undersigned, feel passionately that Sand Volleyball should be added
to the NCAA emerging sports list for women in 2010-2011. We urge you to
support the exciting and numerous opportunities for women that this sport
creates. To make sand volleyball a reality for Division I, we respectfully
request that each institution send a representative to the 2010 NCAA
Convention in Atlanta, Georgia and vote on January 15 to defeat the
override. We will watch this vote very carefully. Please support Sand
Volleyball for the athletes, coaches, parents, administrators, fans, vendors
and many more that will be positively affected by the addition of the sport.
If you would like further information, please do not hesitate to contact the
AVCA at members@... or visit the AVCA Facebook page."
Thank you for your support.

"Big Henry" mesmerized masses in '60s and '70s
A beach icon, Henry Bergman won nearly half of the tournaments he entered.
Henry Bergman, a physical phenomenon known to dominate Santa Barbara beaches
before the likes of Karch Kiraly and Todd Rogers, will be remembered by friends
and admirers later this month. At 65 years old, Bergman passed away Oct. 5,
ending the life of a legend.
Bergman stood out as a star in the volleyball world during a playing career
spanning 1965-1973. An icon in the era before the sport offered professional
competition (the first commercially sponsored beach tournament occurred in
1974), he never attained the fame and fortune athletes of similar skill have
since come to know. Although Bergman's career winnings total $0, he belongs in
the top echelon of the all-time greats.
Known for booming hits that petrified opponents, "Big Henry" won 15 of the 33
Open tournaments he entered. Also known as "Mr. Automatic", Bergman was just
that in 1970, when he won six of his seven events. Bergman won seven titles
apiece with Larry Rundle and Ron Von Hagen. He also won with Ron Lang.
Of the 18 events he didn't win, Bergman finished second eight times. He never
failed to finish in the top five of a tournament.
Rundle and many other contemporaries from Santa Barbara High School, the beach,
and all walks of life will gather to share memories on Saturday, Nov. 21. The
memorial service will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Cafe del Sol, located at 30 Los
Patos Way in Santa Barbara. Everyone is invited to attend.

Hi, my name is Phu and I am looking for a place that I can play/practice. I
would say I want to learn how to play, but for the most part, I already know the
basics, so I just wanna learn how to play competitively. I am currently a junior
at Bassett High, 16 years old, and I live in La Puente. So if there is anyone
out there that is nearby, can you send me some information as to where I can go
or what I could do about this. Thanks.
Does anyone know of any volleyball places that I play/practice at? I want to
play on a team, but my school does not offer it so, if you know of any place
that near West Covina that would be great. Thanks.
Cost: $20
per player includes t-shirt (does not include lunch)
