If any of you out there have tomorrow free, I could really use a couple extra
hands to help out with the race. It's in Willow Springs, IL. You can check out
the details of the race at www.fatotter. com.
You would likely be checking teams in and out of a checkpoint and/or helping
out with grilling up burgers and dogs for the hungry racers after the event.
Email me back ASAP if you're available and interested.

Subject: [CAARA] Cyclocross = good times in the mud
Hey folks,
I did a cyclocross race weekend before last and wanted to pass along that it
was an absolute blast. Deep mud, steep hills, and spectators screaming
their heads off at you. My personal favorite was the guy dangling bacon
slices in riders' faces and yelling "Bacon! Eat the bacon!"
Good times all around and great bike training.
A few notes if you're thinking about giving it a try:
- You can use your MTB. I was the only one out of 70 people in the
beginner division on an MTB. Doesn't bother me if it doesn't bother you.
- Unless you are a much better rider than me, prepare to get your
butt kicked. Most people in cyclocross take it very seriously and have been
riding road races all summer. I would have been on the podium if you
started counting backwards from last place. But I didn't come in dead last,
and I had a fantastic time, and that's what matters.
- You will eat mud. That's OK too, because it's good for the
digestion. Keeps you regular.
More info:
www.chicrosscup.com
Races run every Sunday afternoon through early Dec.
All best,
Jeremy
