Lots Going on SUP wise
We've been getting new convert pretty much daily and the Starboards ability to be sailed, paddled & surf along with their killer designs has them the most sought after SUP's. The 11'2 and the 9'8 FISH seem to be dominating in the waves, but ther eare plenty of 12'6" devoutee's in both surf & flatwater. Sailing (surf & Flatwater) seems to favor the 12'6. Personally I love my 12' in the surf & flatwater but I can feel the difference in glide.
I've been perfecting riding river waves & whitewater, been playing on boat wakes. Bunch of customers raving about sailing SUP's in flat & waves. Tom's talking about doing a moonlight cruise (w/o the booz I hope)
Speaking of Flatwater paddling 5 intrepid paddlers paddled in the Donny Row on Lakes bay in june. When we got to registration at the Pleasantville Yacht Club we were greeted with 15 mph head wind and big chop out on the bay. 4 of us seemed ready to settle into a great breakfast and forgo the whole paddling thing. But Tom Huetter said why not do a mile half downwinder from PT Point back to the YC. So we had to delay our breakfast order and we all (Ben Schnaibel on a 12'6, Terry Junker on a 9.8, Mark Hawks on a 12', Tom Huetter on a Mistral Pacifico 11'6" & me on a 12'6 PLUS Pete Creswell on a sea kayak)piled into vans drove up to PT point paddled as a group all the way down to the Yacht Club. Arriving to inquizical looks and questions about "Those Surfboards" Joining the interpid paddlers were Pat Smith (ground crew for the paddlers driving a car for us to get back to PT point) Murray "Burger Boy" runner &
Linda Hodecker & Norma (political player in our area) joined us for a GREAT breakfast . We had an interuption when the local media wants us for some pictures but to lure us back out (to get wet...AGAIN) they offered us another breakfast and all we could eat...how can you turn that down.
All in all it was a great event and we hope more of you will be joinng us next year, and not just for breakfast
