Hi Paul - Your One Design is OK for our light wind area. Our
windsurfing club, the Baltimore Area Boardsailing Association (BABA) has
an active racing program with a large One Design class. Check it out on
our new web site at <http://www.windsurfbaba.org>,

To use your One Design in the lighter winds of the northern Chesapeake
you just need a larger sail. The One Design class maximum sail is a
7.4. You may be able to pick one up at the East of Maui fall swap meet
on Sunday, September 30. For even lighter winds you probably need an
even larger sail, and although it would not be class legal for IMCO
racing, it would be OK for racing unlimited classes and just cruising.
BABA has an active novice class for less experienced sailors and
experienced sailors who have never raced. You can also get tips from
the One Design racers if you come on out to the Gunpowder and just chat
with folks. Next race day is Sunday, September 16, and our racing is
fun - not cutthroat. And we have no jellyfish (sea nettles in the local
vernacular).

I don't know where you are located, but BABA has lots of members in the
northern Virginia, DC, and Annapolis areas - not just Baltimore. Call
me at 410 592-7681 if I can help with any more information.

Ciao,
Chuck

Chuck, Thanks for your reply. I live in the Chantilly, VA area. So I'm a little far away from Gunpowder, but I love sailing there. It's my favorite place...

... Paul - Only One Design sails are class legal when racing One Design. They are a 7.4 and a 6.6, made by Mistral (or under the Mistral name) for the class....
