You might want to check wind and current before you
venture out at Wash. sailing marina -- I find it a
pain to get out the narrow channel to the river, and
the water can be nasty.

Other options are Belle Haven down the river: better
water access, but launch area more cramped.

I prefer Ft. Belvoir, Pohick Bay, and Mason Neck.
