Hi! I don't speak portuguese, only spanish!. Ante todo disculpenme
si no me entienden o si estoy vulnerando sus normas de hablar s�lo
en portugu�s, pero no se el idioma :( Soy un vecino espa�ol, de
Madrid.

Les comento mi caso. Soy un gran del grupo Pet Shop Boys, y tengo
entendido que el pr�ximo d�a 23 tocar�n en Alcochete, Lisboa. Tengo
algunas preguntas, espero que alguno de vosotros sepa espa�ol y
pueda responderme:

1. Exactamente QU� es Alcochete? como de cerca o de lejos est� de
Lisboa?.

2. Alguien que viva cerca de Alcochete o incluso vaya con frecuencia
a "Freeport" (si mal no tengo entendido se trata de un gigantesco
centro comercial, no?), me podr�a hacer un favor (o podemos llegar a
un acuerdo...) para ir a recoger unas entradas a Freeport (son
gratuitas) y enviarmelas por correo a Madrid? (yo pago el coste del
envio).

Com j� somos muitos (21 ontem � noite, que bom!), resolvi come�ar a fazer um mail por semana sob regras e conceitos em Ultimate... o que acham? Todas as semanas falarei de uma regra e/ou um conceito. Estas regras e conceitos s�o para ser usados com cabe�a e espirito. Interrup��es desnecess�rias do jogo s�o uma seca. Por outro lado, num jogo competitivo, temos todos que seguir as mesmas regras.�

Sugest�es s�o mais que bem-vindas.

O conceito de hoje �:

GRITAR UP

Quando o disco � lan�ado, quem est� a defender o lan�ador deve gritar UP imediatamente. Isto permite uma melhor defesa da parte do resto da equipe, que quando ouve UP d� um olhadela (r�pida para n�o perder o seu homem/mulher) para ajustar a sua defesa.

A regra de hoje �

PICKS

O livro de regras (BULA) tem tr�s entradas sob picks

No player may establish a position, or move in such a manner, so as to obstruct the movement of any player of the opposing team. In the event of a pick, the obstructed player shall immediately call “pick” loudly. Play shall then be stopped and be resumed only after a check, with stall count resuming from the point of interruption or five, if the count was over five.
A player using his body or his movements in such a manner as to obstruct the movement of a player on the opposing team.
Under UPA rules, there is a 3 meter proximity requirement to call a pick. (You cannot call a pick if you are not “covering”the receiver, wherein one of the requirements of “covering” is to be within three meters.

Em campo, um Pick tem tend�ncia a ocorrer quando depois do corte inicial a pessoa em ataque corta para o outro lado do campo e atravessa a “stack” (linha). Outra situa��o que resulta em PICK � quando mais do que uma pessoa a corta para o mesmo sitio ao mesmo tempo.

Folks,

To further develop (beach) Ultimate in Portugal we decided to organize a series of small Everyone Can Play coed hat tournaments. This is to encourage (new) players from all over Portugal to come and play with other beginners and more advanced players.

All players will be put into groups of equal strength and from those groups teams are selected. So each team will have equal number of beginning and experienced players, as well as men and women.

For the more advanced players there is a chance to play in an all-star exhibition game at the end of the day.

The 1st Everyone Can Play mini tournament is Saturday 16 October, 11:30 AM, Praia do Meco in front of Bar do Peixe. The tournament will finish at 6 PM. You can always just show up and play but it really helps the organization if you sign up now:

So sign up, show up, and tell your friends! This is a great way to learn the game and help Portuguese (Beach) Ultimate grow.

Folks,

If you are interested in playing for the Portuguese national team at the World Championships 4-on-4 Beach Ultimate in Santa Cruz California next year (10-17 July 2005), let me know.

It will not be the cheapest trip you can make, but it will be great since it is at the same time and in the same location as the World Disc Games, a tournament with many different Frisbee disciplines: Freestyle, Distance, Frisbee Golf, etc… You can enter those too. The website is not finished yet, but you there is already a lot of info available at: www.worlddiscgames.com

If you are serious we will require you to pay 200 euros by the end of November. This money is used to pay for the registration and some of the stay and is not refundable.

I also suggest to start looking into flights and accommodation already. Santa Cruz is very popular in the summer. Flights would be to San Francisco and from there rent a car, or take public transport. It is about 3 hours from SF. I know it is 10 months away, but time goes quick J

So talk to me folks. Sofia and I are in. We need 4-5 more men and 4-5 more women to play with us. If we have more, we will have a selection (the people not choses will of course get their money back)
