Subject: [bug-p] Writing for an Ultimate Magazine? (before Friday)
Importance: High

Folks,

I have been asked to give some info about Portuguese (Beach) Ultimate for an
online American Ultimate Magazine.

I don't have the time (the deadline is Friday!) but if you want to help put
Portugal on the Ultimate map, please read on and let me know if you can do
it. You don't have to write well in English. They will edit it afterwards.
The info should be sent directly to Ben Wiggins <benlwiggins@...>

Thanks

Patrick.

Subject: Fwd: The Huddle: International Issue

Dori, Patrick, Karen,

This is a rather last-minute ordeal, but I thought I'd give it a shot
anyways.

Ben Wiggins is working on a neat online magazine that is gaining in
popularity. After a writing him some responses this past week, I asked
him if it would help to pass the questions on to any international
Ultimate characters I knew, with the hopes that he could get some more
solid content. He said "go for it!" I know his readers would enjoy
hearing about Israel, Portugal, Brazil, and the Philippines, if you
have time to put together some thoughts. Plus, it would be a way to
broaden Ultimate in your respective countries.

The catch: he's on a time line to get this content up... So, the
sooner the better, basically. He told me that he's aiming to get all
his submissions wrapped up before the 4th of July, so if you feel like
contributing something, you should jump right on it. If not, that's
totally fine - you're not committed to anything.

(Ben's questions are below. Feel free to email me or him if you end up
writing something.)

Coooooooooool. I hope you are all well, wherever you are!
Xtehn

Hey all,

Thanks for getting back to me! With our site, www.the-huddle.org, now
just about to pass 100,000 hits we are very excited to keep moving!

Below are the questions. Ignore any that are not important for your
particular country, and please feel free to tell stories or write
about anything that you want. Your personal experiences will be the
best reading.

I have a country in mind for each of you; but feel free to submit an
answer for multiple countries if you have experiences that I don't
know about!

There are several opinion questions at the end: feel free to choose
any one of these and write a couple of paragraphs of your thoughts. If
only 1 of these is interesting; do it! If you get excited about all of
them, great!

Due date: Next Monday, June 23rd, noon. I'll send a reminder later
this week. This deadline is just a guide; please do not stress if you
are not ready yet. Don't worry about editing; I will take care of
that. I am very grateful for your contribution, and our worldwide
readers are going to love this issue.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you!

Thanks again,
Ben Wiggins

Short fact questions (answer what you can, and you don't need exact
numbers):

Which country are you describing?
For how many years have you had experience with Ultimate in your country?
How long has your country had Ultimate?
Does your country currently have:
Leagues (How many? How many people play in them?)
Club Teams (How many? Are there dominant club teams? who?)
University or College teams (How many?)
Youth (under 18-years-old) teams? (How many?)
A National administration for Ultimate?
Where or how do most people learn about the game?
Where do most people play?
Do people in your country play in or against other countries?

Longer opinion questions:

1) Have there been individuals that have been major contributors to
the growth of Ultimate in your country? Who are they? What did they do
that helped the game grow so well?

2) What does your country need to continue to develop? If the UPA were
to donate $3,000 to you to help develop Ultimate in your country, what
would you do with it?

3) Every country has a different 'style' of play...what is yours?
(This question is particularly interesting to North American readers!)

4) What is next for the game in your country? What is one upcoming
development, or what is a hurdle that Ultimate will have to overcome
to continue to spread?
