Auditions run as follows:
You are invited to an open workshop on Sunday, April 18th. The actual
audition dance routine will be taught at this workshop. You will not
be judged at this workshop however; it is still important that you
look your best. A videotape of the routine will be available to buy
at this workshop. There will also be a question and answer period
during this workshop to help you understand what to expect with
auditions. We will also review what the expectations are of a Buffalo
Jills Cheerleader.
Actual auditions are Sunday, April 25th. You will come prepared
knowing the routine that was taught the week prior. You will perform
the routine with 1 or 2 other young ladies.
There are no start overs, once the music begins, you must complete
the routine.
Once everyone has completed performing, dance finalists (1st cuts)
will be chosen. The number of finalists will be determined based on
how many people audition.
If you are selected as a finalist, you will be asked to stay for an
interview. After the interviews, we will announce the new squad the
same day. We will chose approximately 28 squad members. Former Jills
do need to audition every year. The only Jills exempt from auditions
are the 8 Jills pre-chosen as Captains, making a total of 36 Jills.

Hey guys, Im not sure if you remember me, I used to be a part of this
group a year or so back, but I have since graduated from college.
That was where I kept up with all my emails, on my breaks between
classes. (Instead of homework of course, hehe) Anyway my names Karla,
I was a member of the Buffalo Jills for three seasons, and all the
Bandettes for three....now four. I just wanted to give everyone an
update on whats going on with this new squad you talk about. The
Sabre Girls, commmonly called the "Ice Girls" on the Buffalo Sabres
website, are actually the Buffalo Bandettes, myself included. Since
the Bandits were bought by the Sabres, we now also do theyre
promtions too. Although you will probably never see us doing any
performances for the Sabres, we walk around and do all the promtions
with the Sabretooth, and of course where you have seen us the most,
ride the zamboni between the periods. Another thing, Phil you were
absolutely correct, with the Sabre Girls (Ice Girls) and Bandettes
there are a few of both ex-Jills and ex-Bombshells. There are six ex-
Jills and 4 ex-bombshells....and our directors would be the lovely
Julie and Erin, both ex-Jills. So you can believe that we are a very
talented and well rounded team. Anyway I will definately check back,
and keep an eye on my emails. So I will talk to everyone soon!
<3 Karla
Omarlla has received the prestigious honor of being selected as the
Buffalo Jills Cheerleaders' representative for Pro Bowl 2004!
The NFL will be sending Omarlla for an all expenses paid, one-week
trip to Hawaii! Omarlla will be responsible for learning several
dance routines via videotape before she leaves Buffalo. Once she
arrives in Hawaii it's not all fun and games. She will be learning
additional routines and participating in many personal appearances
prior to the Pro Bowl.

Correction...she's my hairstylist again :D Hopefully, she'll be back
on the squad in 2004. She would've tried out in 2003 but Stephanie
M's pregnancy moved up the tryouts and Holly missed them.
BUFFALO, N.Y. — The yelling gets loud, so she flips a lot on Sundays.
Girls from East Aurora, N.Y., say she's bionic. But pumping iron is
the only way she can relax and put everything out of her mind.
The Buffalo Jills boost crowd adrenaline and are the 12th man
instigators for the Buffalo Bills football team. Marisa Palermo is a
cheerleader, dancer and tumbler with the Jills and is also a senior
airman with the security forces squadron of the 107th Air Refueling
Wing here. She's also a full-time student, a self-professed "gym
junkie," works as a bartender, tools around on a Harley — a Sportster
1200, of course — and spends a lot of time being a "cool sister" (her
favorite pastime).

With the demise of the Destroyers, this group lost a squad but they
have since been replaced by the new Sabres' Ice Girls..They don't
have their own webpage or anything, but some pics can be found in the
photo galeries at Sabres.com
http://www.sabres.com/multimedia/photogallery.php
If anyone has any pics of these ladies, feel free to share them. I
can't be certain, but one shot I saw there featured an ex-Bombshell
and also an ex-Jill.
As is the custom, the Jills named their Pro Bowl representative
yesterday and it was none other than Omarlla. Join us in wishing her
well in Hawaii. I'm sure she'll represent us well.
She was about 6 years younger then me and grew up around me when i
went to school at Gowanda. I cant believe how hot she is now. Her
name is Jessica Bednarek. If only I was not married :D
Well known Choreographer, Kelli Wagner, insures that the Jills are in
top-notch shape for game day performances as well as appearances. In
addition to practicing two times a week (Tues & Thurs evenings) and
their full time work, school or mom schedules, the Jills participate
in a variety of community events that involve the Bills, numerous
charities and area businesses. The Jills also host cheerleading/dance
competitions throughout the Western New York area.
The Buffalo Jills Cheerleaders hold open auditions for cheerleaders
every March.
The minimum requirement for auditions is that each young lady needs
to be at least 18 years old by the final audition date in March.
Formal dance and/or cheerleading experience is not mandatory but
extremely helpful. The date is yet to be determined for the 2004
auditions.

Football fans in Greater Binghamton spread their loyalties among the
three New York teams: the Giants, the Jets and the Buffalo Bills. But
this year, Bills fans have one thing the other teams don't: A
hometown advantage.
Vestal native Erica Buda, 21, is a Buffalo Jill, one of 45
cheerleaders who root on the players that Buffalo fans are hoping to
see at Super Bowl XXXVIII.
Buda, who graduated from Vestal High School in 2000, cheered for
Vestal basketball and the Catholic Youth Organization league. Now, as
a senior at the State University of New York at Fredonia, she carries
21 credits in music education and theater, and devotes two weekdays
and her weekends to the Buffalo Bills.

Thanks for the update.
Any updates concerning now former Bombshells Director Missy Altieri
or one time TLC superstar-in-the-making Kim DeRosa and other past
members of the Bombshells would be great information to know
(regardless if it is this group or not. If these kind of updates are
no longer relevant, I hope either a new smaller group can be created
or someone could post some messages here from time to time.)
One other small quote came to my mind as I read this news, my 8th
grade teacher always used to say to us, "That's life in the big city."
Nonetheless, continued good luck to the Bills and Jills.
To the Bombshells and Destroyers, thanks for the memories.
