Thanks. Honestly, I think the last week has shown how different
people can take being told the same thing. When bad news is given,
like a cutdown, being hurt is inevitable. Some people use the hurt to
fuel anger. One girl who was cut last week was like that. Hopefully
she's past that by now and doesn't let the anger eat away at her.
Others put it aside and move on in acceptance...a reaction I may have
seen last week (or it could be that this girl just held it in very
well). And of course there's those that remain hurt for a time. Some
of them take longer than others to heal and it's truly a shame. If it
were manageable, every girl that's deserving would make the squad
each year. But there isn't a minimum score or anything that everyone
must achieve. It's a numbers game. While the number of cheerleaders
fluctuates slightly from year to year, they aren't going to carry 60-
70 girls on the roster. It would be impossible to coordinate that
many girls at once. Things got busy enough that they had to add
another management position to help deal with 40 girls as it was.
So I don't think it's a case where girls that got cut didn't deserve
to be on the roster...it's more a case where they got beat out for a
limited number of spots and the sad truth of the matter is that
people will get hurt, they will miss out on a final roster spot if
someone edges them out.--- In
