FIRST RACE IN PANERA BREAD BUCKS 5K SERIES ON MARCH 22ND   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #93 of 102 |
Central Bucks Family YMCA 5K

The traditional beginning of the Panera Bread Bucks 5K Series has always been
the YMCA 5K race, and this year is no exception. The 5K race starts at 9:30 AM
on March 22nd. It's part of a Pump and Run event, with the optional (free) Pump
beginning at 7:00 AM in the Y's Fitness Center. There will also be a 1 mile Fun
Run at 9:00 and a Kids scramble at 10:30. Last year's race drew more than 700
registered runners. It's a fast course. The course record, 14:51, was set by
Karl Dusen in 2007.

The race benefits the Y's Financial Assistance program – no one is turned away
from the Y.

Important dates

You can register now for all seven races at a reduced rate and also score a
custom, moisture wicking, long sleeve Series shirt. The shirt is
advertisement-free and can be viewed on www.bucks5kseries.com. While you are
there, you can register for all or any of the Series races. However, March 14th
is the last date to take advantage of this offer.

In addition, please note that March 15th is the last date to take advantage of
the $20 pre-registration fee for the YMCA race. After that date, the fee will
rise to $25.

Runners who preregister for all seven races are VIP's

In addition to the reduced rate and Series shirt, runners who register for all
seven races will be treated as Very Important People. After the first race,
race day registration will consist of simply picking up your ChampionChip –
period! You'll use the same bib (number) and there will be no need to sign
another waiver.

JK-M SERTOMA 5K venue change

The venue for the Johnny King-Marino SERTOMA 5K is being changed. The date, May
13th will remain the same and the location will still be downtown Doylestown.
Stay tuned for the details and check www.bucks5kseries.com for the official
announcement.

Donate used athletic shoes

Series races will be collecting used athletic shoes to benefit families in the
poorest villages in Ghana West Africa. 600 pairs will provide water access and
a pump irrigation system to a family. Visit www.pppafrica for more information.

See you at the races,
March 7, 2009
Dick Patterson
