CAPECCI AND SIMONETTI WIN CHALFONT CHALLENGE
It was a hot day in Chalfont on June 7th, but a cloud cover at race
time kept the temperatures reasonable. Sarah Simonetti (Perkasie)
was the women's winner and Keith Capecci, the men's. Keith broke the
tape in 15:41, just 6 seconds off the course record. Sarah's time
was 18:54. She recently placed 5th in the 3200 meters at the
Pennsylvania High School State Championships.
Nancy Smith (New Britain) was the second woman with a time of 19:40.
Jen Moylan (Sellersville) was just a second behind Nancy in 19:41.
The second man was Tim Marcoe (Lansdale), and Scott Keyser (Telford)
was third. Their times were 17:03 and 17:17.
Antonio De Vido (Doylestown) was the first male master, followed by
Carl Goldschmidt (Doylestown) and Christoph Stannik (Doylestown).
Their times were 18:06, 18:21, and 18:44, respectively. Carl and
Antonio switched places in the masters age-graded competition.
Carl's rating was 77.9% and Antonio's was 77.1%. Warren Taylor
(Telford) had the next highest rating, 76.6%.
Nancy Smith swept the female masters and age-graded masters
competitions. Her age graded rating was 87.1%. This is the highest
score by any Series runner this year. Deena Andrus (Reading) was the
second master (20:51) and Stacy Flaville-Boop (Langhorne) was third
(22:43). Ruth King (Ambler) had the second highest rating (76.3%)
and Deena was 3rd (75.2%).
The Panera Bread Bucks 5K Series concludes its season this Sunday,
June 15th, at the Special Equestrians 5K in Warrington. The 5k race
will start at 8:30 and the Fun Run at 8:00. The Series awards
ceremony will immediately follow the race awards. The overall
championships and most of the age group awards have not yet been
determined. They will all be decided on Sunday.
Many runners have asked whether the Series dri-fit long sleeve shirts
will be for sale. The answer is "yes", there are a few left over.
The price is a very special $15. They will be available at Special
Equestrians on Sunday.
