CAPECCI BREAKS COURSE RECORD AT SERTOMA 5K

The SERTOMA Club staged the 4th Panera Bread Bucks 5K Series race on
May 10th at Doylestown's Central Park. Keith Capecci (New Hope)
broke the course record by 9 seconds with a time of 15:25. Keith ran
alone for most of the race, which made his time even more
outstanding. Johnny King-Marino (Doylestown) was second in 16:68,
followed by Antonio De Vido (Doylestown) with a time of 17:12.

The battle for the next three places was also the battle for the male
30-34 age group. Scott Keyser (Telford), Ben Derby (Dublin) and Lee
Sossen (NYC) completed the course in times of 17:19, 17:31, and 17:39
respectively.

Nancy Smith (New Britain) edged Jen Moylan (Sellersville) in the race
for the first woman. Nancy's time was 19:48 and Jen's was 19:52.
Tammy Smith (Dublin) was 3rd in a time of 20:06. Thirteen year old
Riley Renn (Horsham) just missed the top 3 with a time of 20:16.

More than 400 5K and Fun Runners registered for the races, a 13%
increase over last year. This was the 4th consecutive Series race to
exceed the 2007 attendance. All funds raised by SERTOMA go to
scholarships and assistive technology for children and adults with
hearing impairments.

Johnny King-Marino had the best male masters age-graded rating
(84.9%) and Antonio De Vido was second (81.2%). Warren Taylor
(Telford) was 3rd with a rating of 81 %. King-Marino (16:58), De
Vido (17:12) and Paul Walsh (Chalfont), with a time of 18:25, were
the quickest masters.

Nancy Smith scored her second triple crown in a row with her first
woman, first woman master, and age-graded master (86.5%) wins. Gert
Freas (North Wales) had the second best age-graded rating (81.4%) and
Deena Andrus (Reading) was third with 77.1%. They were also the
first three masters, with times of 19:48, 20:17, and 20:30,
respectively.

The tightest age group competition for the women was F30-34. Tracey
Sawyer (Warrington) was first in 21:06, Kimberly Dunlap (Doylestown)
was second in 21:45 and Erin Guerriero (Doylestown) was third in
21:58.

The next Panera Bread Bucks 5K Series race is the Doylestown Red,
White, and Blue 5K. The race starts at 10:00 on May 24th. It's a
great way to kick off the Memorial Day weekend. Walkers are also
invited to join the fun. Because a large crowd is expected,
registration will also be open Friday, May 23rd from 5:30 to 7:30 at
Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Doylestown. There will be plenty of
food and socializing after the race. In addition, a live band,
Rose's Cross, will entertain at the awards area in front of Puck.
There will also be special raffle prizes, including a bike, a Garmin
GPS watch and a basket with gift certificates from local Doylestown
businesses.
