BUCKS 5K SERIES -- BRASINGTON, COOKE LEAD   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #46 of 102 |
After the first four races, Alexandra Brasington (Dresher) and Kevin
Cooke (Doylestown) are leading the Bucks 5K Series. With three races
remaining, neither runner has clinched the championship and anything
could happen. Deena Andrus (Reading) and Larry Levy (Reading) are
the runners-up.

Alexandra and Kevin were also the overall winners of the SERTOMA 5K,
held in Doylestown's Central Park on May 14th. Brasington (14) set a
new course record for women, with a time of 18:40, while Cooke (36)
blazed the newly certified course with a time of 16:31. Larry Levy
(40, Reading) was the top master's man, finishing in 16:59. Gert
Freas (45, North Wales) was the woman's master's winner with a time
of 20:31.

This year the Bucks 5K Series is recognizing the master runners with
the highest age-graded result. At the SERTOMA 5K, Mike Clarke (58,
Doylestown) scored 81.9 % with a time of 18:59. Gert Freas was the
highest ranked woman with 76.8%. Their times were compared, on a
worldwide basis, with runners of the same age and sex, all competing
at the 5K distance.

At SERTOMA, Joshua Finger (32, Lansdale) and Gert Freas were second
overall. For the masters, Deena Andrus (40) and Antonio De Vido (40,
Doylestown) were second. Finally, the age-graded master runners-up
were Larry Levy and Amy Snyder (46, Lansdale).

The closest age groups were boys 12-14 and women 35-39. Shawn Quinn
(18:31), Ian Smith (18:48) and Michael Thein (18:53) turned in
terrific times in the 12-14 group, while Tammy Smith (20:59), Heidi
Pernia (21:13) and Anabelle Matos (21:27) were outstanding in their
battle for the 35-39 title.

The next Bucks 5K Series race is the Doylestown 5K on Saturday May
28th. The weekend begins on May 27th with the first part of the pump
and run competition at the Central Bucks Family YMCA. In addition to
the 5K on Saturday, there will be a one-mile fun run and team
competition.
