The SERTOMA and Doylestown 5K courses have just been certified by USA
Track and Field. The Certification Code for SERTOMA is PA05002LMB and
for Doylestown, PA05001LMB. Records set on these courses will be
officially recognized by USATF.
SERTOMA and Doylestown are the next 2 races in the Bucks 5K Series.
If you haven't registered, now is the time to do it, and go for your
own record. This could be a personal best, a best for 2005, or
whatever else you're training for. The SERTOMA 5K race date is May
14th. If you register online at www.bucks5kseries.com before May 7th
you can beat the late registration price increase.
SERTOMA race proceeds will be used to provide scholarships and
assistive technology for individuals with impaired hearing. The day's
events include both the 5K race and a 1-mile fun run/walk. In
addition to the overall and the age group winners, there will be two
special awards given to the male and female master runners with the
highest age graded result.
Family fun includes face-painting, balloons, and Bernice, a helping
hands monkey for the children. SERTOMA will also raffle a mountain
bike for the 5K runners and a scooter for the fun runners. Special
10th anniversary, Bucks 5K Series commemorative pint glasses will be
given to the 10th overall runner, the middle-of-the pack runner, and
the pack-of-the pack runner. These attractive glasses will be offered
for sale at $5.
The Doylestown 5K race date is May 28th. Features of the weekend
include a pump and run competition that begins on Friday night at the
Central Bucks Family YMCA, a 1-mile fun run/walk, and team
competition. As with all of the Bucks 5K Series races in 2005, there
will be the special age-graded master's awards and the commemorative
glass awards. For more information on this and all of the races, log
on to www.bucks5kseries.com.
See `ya at the races!
