Hi Runners,

As you all probably know, New Hope was under a state of emergency on
April 3rd and ultimately went under water with the worst flooding in
50 years.

However, postponed New Hope "Spirit Run" went off without a hitch on
April 10th. It was an absolutely perfect day for the 5K race, which
incorporated a new, fast course. There were 400 registered runners.

Brian Gould (Langhorne) was the overall winner with a time of 16:36.
Alexandra Brasington (Dresher) won the women's division with a time
of 19:05. Gina Buggy (Chalfont) was the top master runner among the
women, with a time of 20:46. For the men masters, Antonio De Vido
(Doylestown) won with a time of 17:53.

Art Burger (Doylestown) turned in an outstanding performance
competing in the 60-64 age group. His time was 18:47, for an age-
graded result of 85%. (90% is World Class.) Gina Buggy had the
highest age-graded result among the women, with a rating of 76%.

The closest age group was the women's 55-59, where Wendy Miller edged
Barbara Burger in a photo finish. They were both timed in 26:17. In
the men's 45-49, David Noa (18:17), Bob Powell (18:22), Will
Deroberts (18:40) and Tom Rudan (18:42) were within 25 seconds of
each other. In the women's 35-39, Heidi Pernia (21:06), Tammy Smith
(21:13), and Anabelle Matos (21:37) finished within 31 seconds.

This was the second (of seven) races in the Bucks 5K Series. There
have been different winners in each of the first two races, so the
Series Championship is wide open. The next race is on April 23rd at
Doylestown Hospital's Fitness Center in Warrington. There will also
be a pump and run competition that day. For more information about
the Bucks 5K Series and the seven races, including complete race
results, please visit Bucks5kseries.com. Online registration is also
available there. If you register by Friday you can beat the price
increase.
