Hi Runners, Racers, and Rookies,
The Bucks 5K Series organization hopes your winter was enjoyable and
conducive to improving your fitness. It's time now to begin taking
advantage of your hard work.
The first Series race kicks off at 10:00 on March 13th at the Central
Bucks Family YMCA. Last year's event set a record for the number of
runners -- 429 for the 5K, with a total of 550 when the 1 mile fun
run and kid's scramble are included. It raised more than $8000 for
the Y's Financial Assistance program -- no one is ever turned away
from the YMCA. We're hoping to set another record this year.
Registration opens at 8:15, with the 1-mile run/walk at 9:30 and the
kid's scramble at 10:45. In addition to our regular overall and age
group awards, there will be awards to the top male and female master
runner based on age graded scoring. To celebrate the 10th anniversary
of the Bucks 5K Series, we will give special commemorative pint
glasses to the 10th overall runner, the middle of the pack runner,
and the back of the pack runner. These souvenir glasses will also be
offered for sale.
Special events at the race are designed to celebrate St. Patrick's
Day. There will be a bagpiper, face painting and Blarney Stone
painting. Plus all registered runners and volunteers will be included
in a Free Mountain bike raffle. There's also a pre-race pasta dinner
at the Y on Saturday night (6pm), and you can't beat the price -- $5.
Finally, don't forget that if you register now for all 7 races,
you'll receive a free, Bucks 5K Series moisture wicking T-shirt. You
can also beat the late registration price increase for the Y race by
registering before March 4th.
Register online now or print an application at www.bucks5kseries.com.
Drop by the Series table on the 13th and say hello.
