SPECIAL EQUESTRIANS – FINAL RACE IN BUCKS 5K SERIES

The seventh race of the Bucks 5K Series took place on June 19th at
the Special Equestrians facility in Warrington. Nancy Smith (New
Britain) edged out Kristen Havghey (Pittstown, NJ) to win the overall
women's competition. Nancy passed Kristen near the end of the race
and finished in 19:58. Kristen was 4 seconds behind in 20:02.

Christopher Ganter (Buckingham) was the overall winner with a time of
16:55, while Johnny Marino (Doylestown) was second in 17:40. Marino
was the first master among the men, with Ken Worthen (Holland) second
in 19:03.

Gina Buggy (Chalfont) was the second to Nancy Smith among the women's
masters. Her time was 20:43.

All of the race results are now available on www.bucks5kseries.com.

The Bucks 5K Series awards were presented immediately following the
Special Equestrians awards ceremony. Alex Brasington (Dresher) was
crowned the Series overall women's champion. At the age of 14, Alex
has won 3 consecutive years, a remarkable achievement. Johnny Marino
took the men's championship. He also won in 2002. The overall
champions and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place age group winners all
received custom Bucks 5k Series tiles. The age group winners are all
listed on www.bucks5kseries.com.

More than 2500 runners entered the seven races. With the support of
over 400 volunteers, the Series raised $55000 for programs and
services provided by the Central Bucks Family YMCA, the New Hope-
Solebury Community Association, Doylestown Hospital's Free Clinic of
Doylestown, Sertoma, the Doylestown Business and Community
Association, Chalfont Borough, and Special Equestrians. The Series
website provides detailed information on these worthy causes.

The Series would not be such a great community event without the
support of our Sponsors and our volunteers. If possible, please
thank a volunteer and show your appreciation to our sponsors by
patronizing their businesses.
