That makes sense. I know when I was studying karate, I was fine untill one day playing around with a wrestler friend of mine. Once off my feet, I was useless. So I started training my ground game with jujitsu. Just little things like that, I call them gaps for lack of a better word. I am just lucky I discovered the weakness with a friend and not in an actual attack.
Thank you sensei
Thom

For a real combative system, this "gaps" are more due to an instructor than the system. One instructor skips something and teaches 30 others his/her way and teaches them faster due to the skip and the weaker system prliferates faster

Hey guys,
I don't know if this will make any kind of topic, but it's kind of an update as to what I am doing as far as martial arts training. As some of you know I have studied in multiple styles, and so what I decided to do was to study the basics of each system, I mean study hard, not only practicing the techniques and movement, but taking notes and experimenting with kumite type of drills. What I am hoping to accomplish eventually is a blended style, based on the basics of what I have already learned. Each system has gaps of some kind, and I am hoping that by doing this, I won't be creating a new style, but I am creating a new path for the martial artist in me to follow. I'll keep you posted!
