Hi!
Greetings from Lithuania, where I'm enjoying my winter break! I've got
lots of plans for when I get back (in a little over a week), including of
course a spring ride schedule. But for right now I hope you're all having
a nice break. I'm doing a little lifting in the gym here, but otherwise
planning to race back into shape come spring!
Anyway, the following info is for potential/definite racers:
If anyone is interested in possibly continuing to race after the
collegiate season is over this spring, you'd have to race USCF (national
amateur racing) which has a different category system and whatnot, but
requires the same license. It can be a lot of fun.
To do this, you usually you hook up with a local USCF team for support and
teammates. My team is Swansea Velo CLub, affiliated to a small bike shop
Bikeworks in Swansea run by a very supportive cyclist named Bob
Polakowski. Your other option is to ride with Providence Velo Club, our
official club sponsor, also very supportive. These are both great clubs
to ride with, and my advice is to attend the spring racers meetings.
Below is the info for the Swansea Velo Club meeting. Bob has been a great
help to me as my sponsor, and I'm looking forward to seeing his plans for
the team this year.
I should emphasise that with both Prov Velo and Swansea Velo, you don't
need previous experience or a resume, just enthusiasm and interest. And
going to the meeting isn't a committment.

"If you are interested in racing, please make this meeting. We will be
going over the racing schedule and other things. Club clothing is right
on time 1st week of February." -- Bob
Take care
Kate.
