Lenny's costume is kinda weak. lol.
Oh, I remember my first "Bronson sighting." I actually first saw his
picture in a 1998 Pirates magazine and I said to my friend (in an
awkward way), "Bronson...Arroyo...what the heck kind of a name is
that??", even though he was sort of cute (see the gallery pics and
you'll see the pic I'm talking about).
Then, in midseason, 2000, the Pirates brought him up from AAA to help
out, as our team was full of injuries. During the game, they showed
him on TV in the dugout (with no hat on) as the announcers were
talking about him. My dad said to me, "Hey, there's that new kid
they brought up today..." and I looked at the TV and was
like, "Whoa! Not bad!" thinking about how he looked nothing like
that picture in the magazine!
I met him for the first time about a month later during Camera Day
and as he shyly said hi and looked at me and smiled, I remember
thinking to myself, "WOW! Pictures do absolutely NOTHING for you!"
LOL Over the last 10 years, I've watched him grow and mature into
the gorgeous man he is today and I must say, he gets better looking
with age, as a lot of men do! LOL Okay, off topic, sorry... ;)
Anyway...what are some other Bronson fans' first sightings of him?

Congrats to Bronson for being a 15 game winner for the first time in
his career! Seeing how he started out the season, who would've thunk
that he'd be winning 15? lol. Love ya Bronson!
OMG, that pic is soooooo cute! I laughed so hard when I saw that, I
about fell off my chair! LOL!!!!

Curses! Bronson had such a good game today (and against freaking C.C.
Sabathia) and what does the bullpen do immediatly after Bronson is out
of the game? BLOW THE LEAD! GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!! It could have been
win #15, DARNIT!
The Reds (www.reds.com) just posted a poll for August's MVP and
Bronson is in the running. Right now he is in the lead by only 10% so
PLEASE vote and vote often so he can win. The survey is at the bottom
of the web page, so scroll down. Thanks! I will be posting more
pictures from this weekend later today.
That's awesome! :)

a 2-1 win at Houston. He gave up 1 earned run, 5 hits, 2 walks and 3
strikeouts. He is now 12-10 with a 5.07 ERA. This is the first
complete game by a Reds pitcher in 2008. Bronson held the Astros
scoreless until the fifth inning, until Mark Loretta scored the tying
run on Brad Ausmus' RBI groundout to second base.

Apparently Bronson is pleading to stay in Cincinnati...then again, we
remember what happened the last time he pleaded to stay in
Boston...anyway, here's the article I saw in the Cincinnati Enquirer:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Arroyo to Castellini: Don't trade me
Posted by JohnFay at 7/23/2008 3:49 PM EDT on Cincinnati.com
Bronson Arroyo doesn't want to be part of a fire sale. After he won
his fifth straight start, Arroyo made a pitch not to get shipped out.
"I'd really be disappointed if they made a trade for me," Arroyo
said. "I feel like honestly if you trade me, you're going ahead and
saying we're not going to build a winning team here. Of the four
starters who have been here all year, I think all of us have a chance
to pitch here for a long time, health-wise and age-wise. If you go
ahead and trade me out now, you're cashing in the money for a losing
team."
Arroyo hears the rumors, particularly the ones involving the Yankees.
"I have a lot friends in that area," he said. "The last few months,
they've been talking about it a lot on the radio."
Arroyo doesn't think owner Bob Castellini will sign off on a trade,
just to save salary.
"When I see Bob Castellini, I see a guy who wants to win," Arroyo
said. "I hope the vibe that I get from him is for real. If it's not,
I've got another surprise coming my way."
Arroyo would like to be part of future with Aaron Harang, Edinson
Volquez, Johnny Cueto, Daryl Thompson, Homer Bailey and Co.
"I definitely want to be," he said. "The last two years we haven't
had anywhere near the pitching staff we have now. Volquez and Cueto
have been great. Thompson surprised a lot of people when he came up
here. Homer is looking more comfortable and a lot better. I feel
like -- and everyone around here feels like -- things are starting to
roll here. I don't think there's a reason to panic and ship a lot of
guys out of here. Adam (Dunn) is the only guy who is kind of in
predicament where he's going to have to sign long-term deal or
they're going to have to do something with him. Guys like myself and
Harang, we're locked in. If they're willing to stick with us and pay
the salary, we've got a good shot at doing things we haven't done in
a while."
Castellini hasn't said anything to Arroyo directly.
"But I hear him talking," Arroyo said. "He's optimistic. I don't see
him packing it in and taking the money."
Boy, Bronson's doing absolutely superb lately! :) He's racked up 5 wins
in a row now, including today...what a great way for him to come back
from the worst outing he's had in a LONG time! Unfortunately, it's
raising his trade value. :(
I've been reading numerous articles that say this would be the "best
time" to trade him (he even said that himself), considering his salary
would be going from $3 mil this season to $9 mil next season, and the
Yankees seem to be the ones interested in getting a starter (they're
also looking at AJ Burnett from the Jays) We'll just have to sit back
and wait and see what happens in the next week.

Okay...what alien life form has taken over Bronson's body? Hehe.
Today was a little shaky (5 innings, 5 runs) but it's still his 7th win
of the season. :)
PLUS-he tends to heat up after the All Star break...good times.
I'm kinda hoping he gets better and gets traded at the deadline. I
don't think the Reds are going anywhere for a long time and I would
hate to see Bronson waste away there...I still think he's too good
for that team.

Fellow Bronson fans,
I've read many articles now that have been saying Bronson may
possibly be traded before the July 31 deadline. Teams that are
interested (so far) seem to be the Yankees and Phillies. Here are
two articles I found online:

Phillies Notebook: Phillies GM Gillick says team will seek to fill
needs as trade deadline approaches
By DAVID MURPHY
Philadelphia Daily News
Every sign coming from the Phillies indicates they expect to be
active players once this summer's pretrading deadline action heats up.
General manager Pat Gillick told reporters yesterday that he and the
rest of the Phillies front office already have identified the needs
they hope to address before season's end.
Though he did not detail those plans, pitching is one area the team
would like to upgrade, particularly with the ongoing struggles of
Brett Myers, whom they had hoped would establish himself as a strong
No. 2 to complement Cole Hamels.
Players who could be available include Indians lefthander C.C.
Sabathia, Blue Jays righthander A.J. Burnett and Reds righthander
Bronson Arroyo. ESPN.com reported that the Phillies have "kicked the
tires" on all three players.
While the Phillies' farm system is relatively thin on big-name
prospects who could land a player such as Sabathia, Gillick raised
the possibility that the team could part with a player on their
current roster to build a competitive package.
"There might be somebody who is attractive to a club out there who
wants to move a pitcher," Gillick said while speaking on "Daily News
Live" on Comcast SportsNet.
Gillick did not name names, and spoke only in general about positions
with "excess" players on the roster.
The Phillies are relatively deep in the outfield, where Shane
Victorino and Jayson Werth can both play center. They also have
utility infielder Greg Dobbs, who was hitting .362, but, at 29, has
yet to get a shot as an everyday player in the major leagues.
Gillick said the trade market is still dormant, as many teams who
could be sellers continue to flirt with competitiveness.
"Seattle is one club that is probably out of it right now," Gillick
said. "But the other clubs who might have some interesting personnel
are still in the race."
Interestingly enough, Seattle, which has the worst record in
baseball, could have one of the bigger names on the market if it
shops lefthander Erik Bedard. But, as Gillick told reporters, he
likely won't have a good idea of realistic targets until closer to
next month's All-Star break.

Bronson Arroyo waits as trade rumors swirl in Cincinnati
BY ANTHONY McCARRON
DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER
Sunday, June 22nd 2008, 7:35 PM
The calls started just after Chien-Ming Wang was hurt last week in
Houston - Bronson Arroyo's friends jamming his cell phone, wondering
if he's going to be the Yankees' midseason rotation fix.
"Trade rumors," Arroyo said Sunday. "I know this is probably my best
year in my whole career to be traded - we're not playing our best
ball and my salary (nearly) triples next year. Me and (fellow starter
Aaron) Harang, both.
"If we're not winning, it all depends on the owner of the club. How
long do you want to ride something and see if you're going to win or
do you pull out the big-dollar guys and do something?"
Arroyo, perhaps best known in New York as the Red Sox pitcher with
the ball on Alex Rodriguez's infamous "slap" play in Game 6 of the
2004 ALCS, has been mentioned prominently in speculation in
connection with just about any team in need of pitching. He is 4-6
with a 5.55 ERA for the Reds, who fell into last place in the NL
Central with their loss to the Yankees Sunday. Arroyo is making $3.95
million this year and will earn $9.5 million in 2009 and $11 million
in 2010.
While Arroyo sounds like he's on the fence about possibly coming to
New York, he paid Yankees owner George Steinbrenner a compliment
Sunday while noting that baseball owners are generally businessmen
first.
"I don't know a lot of the other owners, but in my estimation, the
only guy who didn't (care) about making money is Steinbrenner,"
Arroyo said. "He feels like at all costs he wants to win the World
Series. When I look at John Henry and those guys in Boston, yeah,
they want to win, but they're only going to push the salary so far.
They want to stay under a certain line, so to me, they're businessmen
first and baseball people second."
Arroyo pitched in Boston from 2003-05 and he says he's thought about
the possibility of one day being a Yankee, but "it's a double-edged
sword for me. When I first got traded, I hated the fact I wasn't
going to play in a place that had that kind of rivalry and the
expectations. I really liked that.
"But playing here for three years, you kind of settle into that and
get comfortable where you live and not having stuff written in the
paper about you off the field and not have so much scrutiny. I'll go
wherever I go. I can make things work and be happy wherever. I get
content in a place. Would I like to play for a contender? Yes. But
I'm enjoying myself here."
And, Arroyo says, the Reds have the ingredients to contend. "In this
division, we can't be in the cellar with the club we have," he
said. "But we're (a long way) out and we have to make a move some
time or people will start pulling parts off."
Yeah, you got that right! :( I was planning to flip back and forth
to watch his game and the Pirates/Yankees game tonight (hopefully to
watch the Pirates win, which I did, 12-5! LOL) However, I ended up
sitting there, watching Bronson's game for a long time in the
beginning, only to watch him get pounded during the 1st inning and
then couldn't get 1 out in the 2nd inning, then he's out of the
game! I felt so bad for him, especially since it took so long for
Dusty to take him out. Then again, I guess he was maybe waiting just
to make sure Bronson was completely out of steam first, plus they
needed to warm up Majewski. Oh well...at least it only counts as one
loss, even though Bronson's ERA is going to skyrocket now. :( I'm
sure he'll rebound next game, which I do believe is scheduled for
Sunday at Cleveland (afternoon game - uh oh! lol)
