Did anybody watch the game yesterday?   Message List

Re: Did anybody watch the game yesterday?

Yeah, I watched the game as well. Remember one thing about this...if
Dunn didn't mess up the catch in left field, it wouldn't have scored
a run and the game would have not been tied to begin with.

As for the bottom of the 9th, there were two guys on base, 0 outs.
One of the batters (pardon me, I can't remember his name off-hand)
hit the ball softly to Bronson who, in turn, threw it to Freel on 3rd
base, who bobbled the ball. Now, instead of getting the force out
and 3rd base, with 2 guys on and 1 out, the bases are loaded, 0
outs. Now, I'm not saying that the other guys on base were not
Bronson's fault, as he's not always perfect.

Regarding the "walk-in" winning run, if you watch the replay, Bronson
pitched what they call a "borderline" pitch, which pretty much in any
other game I've watched, would have been called "strike three".
Remember also this was not the home team pitching; it was the away
team. Umpires have a bad tendency of catering to the home team (I've
watched enough baseball games to see this happen and I'm sure Bronson
will agree with me) Therefore, if everything would have gone as it
should have, Bronson probably would have won the game 2-1 (that is,
with no error by Dunn). Even if the game was tied in the bottom of
the 9th, as it was, if Freel didn't bobble the ball there would have
been 2 on, 1 out. Therefore, this big "pitch" would only have loaded
the bases and he may have had better luck with the next batter.
However, that's not the way it happened and the bases were loaded, 0
outs and after a full count, the last pitch was called Ball 4 instead
of Strike 3. I, personally, am blaming it on a bad call, as even the
commentators were arguing about it, but after it's called, there's
nothing you can do about it. Bronson gets another loss, end of story.

As for everyone knocking the Reds because of lack of run support and
also that "Bronson should go elsewhere", etc., it's only the second
month of the season and I wouldn't worry about it yet. In case no
one has seen the standings, nearly everyone in the NL Central
Division is actually close in record, as Milwaukee is running away
with the lead. I have faith in this team and I'm sure the management
will do something about it soon and I know Bronson will not go and
ask to be traded to another team, as that is nothing but juvenile. I
know he didn't like it here in Pittsburgh (and you see how great our
team is! LOL), but he never once "asked" to be traded anywhere. Just
enjoy the fact that we're able to still see him pitch, regardless of
what team he's on! :)

Did anyone know that he's doing a benefit concert in Cincinnati on
May 27 at the Lodge Bar? :) Tickets are $25 and VIP passes to see
him backstage are $100.
