Have you seen Surrey League website results. The bunch have all been
disqualified! What a great afternoon ..soaked again ...60 miles of pain. Police
car tries to kill us before stopping the race with 5 miles to go....then we get
DQ'd! Roll on Chertsey!

Paul

p.s. does this count as a race report?

There's history there: two years ago there was trouble with the police and last
year we were under pain of d/q for doing anything wrong. like racing.

That looked like a really good field: half the break are ex first cats and
above.

Not a huge amount to report from barcombe: a bit of flooded road made for a good
soaking, and though it was a pretty tiring race, no-one had it to get away with
any conviction and it came down to a sprint by a depleted bunch. Will Thomas had
a bit of an 'off'. He's fine but suffice to say he rather needs a new bike as
his viner hnow has a novel 'compact step through' design: no top tube and a
little folded up.

Or doesn't because he sounds rather over road racing!

Ashley and I are off on Friday to do the Tour de Flanders (the 140km, not the
265km!!!) on
Saturday.
Just wondering if any other Mitre people will be there!

Amazingly the track season is nearly upon us. To kick things off we are
once again holding 3 try-the-track sessions, starting tonight at 18:00.
These are structured introductory sessions primarily aimed at new riders
but experienced riders are welcome to join in as long as you are
prepared to follow the coaches directions. For those without track
bikes, there should be enough spares/and or people prepared to len
theirs to cover things.

Hopefully see you there.

I think they had problems last year, I can't understand why as I reckon
its one of the safest courses the Surrey League uses. Safer than
Barcombe, just ask poor Will.

Sadly not.....100% certain placed I sixth in my first race but being
bunch sprint finish the judges could only place top five,
so the remaining points were divided up between the rest, resulting
in one point allocated to each rider from sixth downwards.
With last weeks race I have six points, so getting close. Fingers
crossed for Chertsey next weekend.

Further to my previous post, meet at Nathan's (6 Oxford Mews) for
coffee at 8.

If you haven't been before, Oxford Mews can be hard to find. Here's a
GoogleMap link:

http://maps.google.co.uk/
maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=oxford+mews&sll=50.820931,-
0.139846&sspn=0.156163,0.259209&ie=UTF8&z=16&iwloc=addr

If you're coming down Cromwell Rd from 7 Dials, take the right just
before you get to the end of the road where it joins Denmark Villas.
The map above suggests you can get to it from the turn off on The
Drive but you can't.

It 's official, the first season of the Brighton Mitre Hove Park Road
Races is on.

Four Friday evening race dates have been put together being the 25th
April, 23rd May, 27th June & 25th July.
The race format will consist of:-

Category 2/3 ........starting 7.00pm........50 minutes + 5 laps
Category 4............starting 7.01pm....... 40 minutes + 5 laps
Entry £10.00 per race

The organising committee have estimated we'll need a minium of five
marshalls for each event.
Those of you that had volunteered to help and keep the races going
please contact me as soon as possible.
All Brighton Mitre riders wishing to compete will be expected to help
out and marshall on a least one of the race dates.
We, as a club now have the opportunely to create an excellent cycling
event, which will elevate the club's profile in within the southeast
cycling region.
I'm sure everyone can understand that it can't be sustained on
efforts of just one or two individuals, so please put your name
forward to help out on least one of the race dates.
Please contact me (Mike Leonard) 079 763 763 20 or 01273 422758 as
soon as possible if you are able to help out.

Cheers

Wow, I've only just looked at these. I've never seen a bike do that
