For those who may have been wondering why others have been making the
announcements for the Great Chicago Anthrax Hash & Santa Hat Run rest assured
that any rumours of my demise at the hands of a young woman are greatly
exaggerated.

For Anthrax 2009 we are going full throttle with in addition to the main event,
pre-lube and hangover hash also have two other hashing opportunities to round
out the Category Five Drinkstravaganza that has come to be known as Chicago
Anthrax.

Friday will start off with Hashpitality at the legendary Party Central (please
do not trash my place!) with a keg and food, then a pre-lube bar party option as
well as a downtown holiday hash.

Saturday we have an early woods run option and then the main event which will be
held in an all-new venue just blocks from Wrigley Field with multiple beer/shot
checks on trail, kegs back at the party and wonderful food catered by Chicago's
acclaimed Robinson's Ribs.

Sunday those of us still standing will gather at the spiritual home of the
original Great Chicago Anthrax Scare, the Hidden Shamrock for our traditional
hangover hash and then we bid farewell until Anthrax 2010!!!

As always all the main venues are easily accessible via Chicago's convenient and
inexpensive public transit or simply walking/stumbling (for those so inclined).
Cheep rooms are still available at both the Days Inn Lincoln Park and Arlington
House Hostel and also some crash space can be found including Party Central.

Saturday's main event (including a hazmat suit, souvenir event t-shirt and
badge, and more food and beer than you can shake a stick at) all for the
recession-friendly price of just $35, but you must act quickly as prices go up
to a still bargain-basement $40 after Thanksgiving.

Not to outdo Palms, but the Gobbler Hash will be crashing the party for a 92 year old grandmother and a concertina band. I think that outclasses everything. We will be taking over the front of the bar, Maverick's, according to the owner and we shouldn't disturb the other party or maybe we should. They need to be disturbed.

Pray for no snow and lots of down downs. Still contemplating making the sloppy joes. Only 2 have RSVPd, so need more bodies to make this event more fun.

As all good hashers know, the weatherman lies. So, since it is forecast for bright and sunny on Saturday, we might expect rain, sleet or typhoon. Regardless of weather the hash will go on. I already have my flourescent orange chalk on hand to set trail in case of snow.

I have confirmed with Maverick's and they are anxiously awaiting our arrival. They have had a year to forget how rowdy we were and look forward to our company once again.

Not sure yet how many beer stops there will be, but I know if Last Hole decides to make an appearance, he will be the first one there and the last to leave and somehow manage to be FRB. Also since there will be another party going on while we are there it could go on all night.

Hope most of you will dump your relatives and come have some fun. Since you know I am a walker and not a runner, the trail will be walker friendly. But we also know after a few beers the runners tend to walk a little funny.

Wankers and Wankettes,

How many of you want an excuse to not go out of town Thanksgiving weekend? How many of you are expecting company TG weekend and need an excuse to get out of the house? How many of you don't really need any kind of excuse at all and just feel like going out to a bar and downing a few? Well then this is right up your alley.

I kindly invite you to attend the Gobbler Hash on Saturday, November 28 at 3 pm at Maverick's, 2030 W. Howard. Remember last year it was beautiful weather Saturday and snowed on Sunday. Please hope it does the same again this year. If it's the reverse then the trail may get covered. But then again who needs a trail when you can follow the hare's footprints in the snow.

If sober (but then again you don't have to be), please RSVP so I can determine if I am going to make the scrumptious sloppy joes I made last year. Hopefully Sno Job won't bring his son as he had most of it finished before anyone else got to it. If only a few people show we can just go to my house and raid the bar.

Sooo... Apparently the pups of the hash know that.

10 hashers, 2 virgin, and approx 14 Pups!
(( in order of appearance: Smegm@, Just Reason & Thumper Humper, Oh My Dawg Ha Sh*t, C*ntinental Breakfast, Last Hole, Olymp-D*ck, C0lon Delici0us, Mangina, Just Mark, as well as Copulator!! & B.O.W. Ow! ))

Circle was abbreviated due to dwindling sunshine & imminent rain and since more than expected showed up, Copulator!! (( resident hare extraordinare' & faithful hound B.O.W. Ow!!)) headed out for the 1st manned beerstop (2nd actual beer stop) with a backpack full of beer. Loaded down as he was Cop!! & B.O.W. OW!! loped along as quickly as possible (shortcutting and ducking for cover) with hounds nipping at their heals.

Copulator!! (your hare) gave the hounds plenty of rope to screw the pooch...and from all accounts they took it. Mud & Burs were in abundance.

Waiting at the stop, Mangina called & was given the shortest route to take towing a wagon and Just Mark on his first hash ever. With badly jostled warmish beer they'd swilled under a bridge... they headed out again ..one intrepid group set out along the Tough trail (across a 2x4 bridge) and followed all manner of arrows around the retention pond. As soon as Last Hole realized they were going all the way around the pond...he cut across (shortcutter!) aross the bog, mud up to his eyeballs and burrs taking up residence in Celis' hide. The rest of the group followed the hare (again on foot & carrying leftover beer).

Though true trail was long & winding the TOUGH trail was an even bigger pain in the @ss. Fortunately almost noone actually followed trail to the 3rd beerstop... the old stone stairs in the park. We sang, we snacked, one of us shiite our pants (we'll have to remember that at Just Mark's naming...though to his he may look as big as a 6yr old, but he's not quite 3)

...Its not a party til someone p00ps their pants!!
