This egroup lists social running activities planned by the Waukesha Hash House Harriers. Runners of all abilities are welcome. Most events occur in Milwaukee and some are dog-friendly.

Here's how it works. One or more "hares" (really just people) start out running, leaving behind a trail of flour markings. Later, the pack of "hounds" (the rest of us) set out, tracking the marks in hopes of catching up to, and snagging the hares. The hares leave marks cleverly, but clearly (in theory), to outwit the pack. This is done by leaving false trails and by arranging for beer stops along the way. Competitive running is strongly discouraged, as this is not a race, but a game that we play before we drink. Some hashers walk the entire trail. The length of the trail varies depending on the hare's personal preference, but usually ranges between 2 to 4 miles. At the end of the trail everyone forms a "ceremonial" circle, sings vulgar songs and comes up with excuses (crimes) for our comrades to chug beer...like we need a reason! Alcohol and adult language (NC-21) are present.
