Hi,
I've just started playing Futsal and I've receive some conflicting
rules with regards to the game. I've tried surfing the internet for
answers but to no avail. Perhaps I could get some feedback from you.
1) Are players (both defending or attacking) allowed to be the 'd'
area?
2) If they are, can an opposing player shoot towards goal in the 'd'
area?
3) From the "goal kick"/throw of the keeper, can the player pass it
back to the keeper? Meaning, can there be back passes? And how many
are allowed?
Thanks in advance & regards
Cheers mates!!!

Changes are needed at U.S. Futsal. In fact, they're way overdue
U.S. Soccer needs to drop its laissez faire attitude and take a
serious look.
I originally started futsalonline.com in order to advocate futsal and
cover its growth in the U.S., but most of the time I've been covering
the growth of futsal everywhere except the U.S.
The U.S. Futsal Federation conducts a so-called national tournament
every year, and U.S. pro indoor off-the-wall leagues send U.S. teams
to international tournaments, but, aside from that, there's almost
nothing going on in with futsal the U.S.
I originally started writing about futsal in the early 1980s when I
serving as associate editor of Soccer America Magazine. I saw some
futsal games in the San Francisco Bay Area, thought it was a great
sport and still think it's a great sport.
I talked about the game with Osvaldo Garcia, the original president
of the U.S. Minisoccer Federation, which later became U.S. Futsal,
and wrote as much as I could about the sport.
The current president and chief executive officer of U.S. Futsal,
Alex Para, was a support person at that time, performing
administrative duties for the Minisoccer Federation.

Good Luck to all the teams representing the Bay Area of California.
See you in Las Vegas!
Just over a year ago, the Futsal World Championship took place in
Guatemala. It was a huge success in every respect, and as a direct
result, Futsal continues to make astonishing progress, winning more
fans and becoming more and more professional.
utsal fans look back fondly on the tournament, and on the final in
particular. The culmination of the fourth Futsal World Championship
was reached on 3 December in the sold-out Domo arena in Guatemala
City. 7,500 passionate fans witnessed a classic encounter between
Spain and Brazil, with the Iberians winning a dramatic match 4-3. It
was the first time in the history of the championship that Brazil had
not triumphed.

between Spain and Brazil (4-3). Photos: Dan Motz
The players fully enjoyed playing in the championship, and their
enthusiasm was more than matched by that of the entire Futsal
community. Guatemala 2000 was an extraordinary event. It was
organised to perfection, and the atmosphere in the two arenas in the
capital city (Domo and Teodoro Palacios Flores) was red-hot. Nearly
100,000 fans witnessed the 40 games – a new record for a Futsal
World
Championship. The 16 teams treated us all to some wonderful games,
scoring a hatful of goals along the way. The level of play continues
to improve, and teams and officials alike could only praise the whole
event, impressed as they were by the radiating warmth of the
Guatemalans.
"The last World Championship did wonders for our sport and has helped
us to take enormous strides forward," said Víctor Beceiro, who is
in
charge of Futsal at FIFA.
Beceiro admitted to being overwhelmed by the positive reaction to the
tournament in Central America. Guatemala 2000, and the inaugural two-
day Futsal seminar with about 100 participants, has helped the sport
reach new levels of popularity around the world. Futsal is currently
played competitively in about 100 countries, and most of them are
using FIFA's guidelines and concept to move the game in the right
direction.

Stephen Finn:
U.S. Pros Should Switch to Futsal
futsal-english newsgroup
Myself and two other members of the Irish futsal fraternity are
trying to organise a trip to Madrid for the Real Madrid event. It
promises to be a great learning experience, I'll fill you in on my
findings.
By the way, on Futsal Planet there is an interesting piece of news on
the US finally hosting a futsal international against Mexico and
Canada. They've got their squad together.
This could be a first step on the road to the MISL seriously
considering switching to futsal. To be honest I can see no reason why
they shouldn't switch as soon as possible.
Indoor Soccer US-style is rubbish to watch and I honestly believe the
market that follows it would soon convert to futsal if it was
packaged right.
They probably were first attracted to Indoor Soccer because it gave
them the chance to see a version of Pro-soccer, whether that was
using walls or not probably doesn't really matter and the fact is the
ball disappears from view quite often the lower your seat is in the
stand so futsal would clearly be better for spectators.
As for the MISL, surely they would benefit more from developing real
relationships with Brazilian and Spanish futsal. We'd start sorting
the men from the boys then and futsal would probably have the third
power it needs to freshen things up a little.
Am I being unrealistic? Is it possible or pie in the sky? The point
is that indoor soccer is now facing a crossroads. MISL and WISL are
combining, which makes sense. However, they operate under different
rules already so it would seem that now is the perfect time to throw
the adaption of FIFA rules into the equation.
The USSF does not appear to have any real influence over the indoor
soccer ruling group and so it seems that they will muddle along doing
things their own way without ever having a serious debate on where
they are going and how they could make things better.
Tradition is a crutch for cowards to cling onto. It gives people an
excuse for not changing anything. for taking brave steps that may
lead to ultimately better rewards. Of course I'm speaking with a
sense of bias, futsal is my game not indoor soccer. However I have a
friend, Chris Hamilton, who played indoor soccer for Cleveland Crunch
a few years ago and played futsal with our Irish team that played in
the Dynamik Cup in Slovakia and he really felt that futsal is far
superior to Indoor Soccer, from a tactical and technical point of
view.
Perhaps the futsal community in the US need to try and stimulate a
think-tank meeting with the USSF and Indoor Soccer power-brokers
present to discuss a real business plan for marrying the two codes.
Applications are due April 14, 2002 and this will be the last day to
join the 2002 Cal. Futsal State Cup. If you need any forms, you can
download some at californiafutsal.org or if you have any questions
regarding the state cup contact Dan Proctor at 1 707 528 6828. Hope
to see your team there!
The final two teams are set to compete for the 2002 SF Rec. and
Park Futsal League Championship- World United vs. DiBufala.
First Place World United defeated the BGC of San Francisco 8-5
in an exciting game. The BGCSF took an early 2-0 lead then by the end
of the first half, World Utd. scored 3 goals to end the first half 3-
2. In the beginning of the second half, BGCSF scored 3 quick goals to
take the lead 5-3 but from then on it was all World United showing
why there are one of the best teams in the US. World United scored 5
unanswered goals to win the game 8-5.
Second place DiBufala defeated Bola Preta in the other playoff
game to advance and play World United.
Both teams faced each other during the regular season and World
United was victorious 10-8 in a close battle. DiBufala had a 3 goal
lead(7-4) with 3 minutes remaining then World United came back and
answered with 6 goals to win the game. Should be a classic!
The top four teams are set for the playoffs and the first place
World United will face the U-19 National Futsal Champions- Boys and
Girls Club of San Francisco tonight at 7pm. World United went
undefeated through out the season while the 4th place BGCSF lost
their last 3 games to all the 3 Brazilian teams. World United hopes
to maintain undefeated and once again crown it self champion of San
Francisco. The first match between the two was won by World United 8-
4.
In the second game of the playoffs the second place Di Bufala
will face Bola Preta who climbed the standings week by week and found
it self in 3rd place by season end. Di Bufala hopes to defeat Bola
Preta and once again face World United as they have in numerous of
times in the San Francisco Futsal League. The first meeting was won
by Di Bufala by 6+ goal difference.
All playoff games will be played at St. Marys Rec. Center in the
city of San Francisco, come and join the excitemnet of Futsal at its
best as the top 4 teams of San Francisco face off to see who is this
years 2002 City Champion. For more info log on to futsalleague.com

Dan Proctor(President of the Cal. North Futsal Ass.) has officially
set the State Cup for the last weekend of April in the old naval base
in Alameda, Ca. There is a posssibility that the tournament might a
regional tournament, which will be great because teams from west
coast states(Oregon, Arizona, Washington, and so on) will be
competing in the tournament. More information to follow. Start
preparing for the tournament as the State Cup will be likely be
better than before.

Hi,
i form part of a very good futsal team in Malta (Europe). We ve been
unbeaten since august and also won the Maltese league with seven wins
and just a draw. My only problem is whether we are using the right
tactics in the game. we often play with two at the back a midfielder
and an attacker, but obviously we all attack/defend when neccessary.
Could you please send us some tips on tactical discipline on the
field of play. we also do a lot of fitness training but i would also

conflicted the availability of various teams. This is set
date according to Alex Parra and no more changes will
be made. Mark your calendars and get ready for the
Elite tournament of the year in the city of Las Vegas,
Nevada. For more info. and applications visit Futsal.com.
The 2002 State Cup will held the last weekend of
April. The event will take place at Alameda, California
in the Old Naval Base. Applications will be out
within the next couple of weeks, all that is needed is
an approval by the facility which is looking good to
go. For more information visit californiafutsal.org
and email Dan Proctor. I will keep you posted of any
changes.

no sentido de manter a estrutura. Todo ano a gente
