10/05/2004- Fall River, Massachusetts Bill Sampaio, Director of the
Norfolk County Futsal League recently met with officials from the
southeastern Massachusetts area to advocate for the expansion of
United States Futsal Federation sanctioned leagues.
Frank Sherman, Director of Athletics of Bishop Connolly High School
and James Carey, President of Fall River Youth Soccer Association
were on hand for these meetings and took a moment to help support
Futsal as an Olympic event in 2012 which is a program Coach Sampaio
has been actively advocating for all over the United States. Coach
Bill works as a special collaborator for the Federação Paulista de
Futebol de Salão - Futsal of Sao Paulo, Brazil who run a full time
advocacy campaign to have the sport of Futsal recognized as an
Olympic Event. Much to their credit and that of countless others
like Coach Bill Sampaio, Futsal will be included in the Pan American
games of 2007!
Bill has been active in other areas of the sport of Futsal as well.
The establishment of the Norfolk County Futsal League in
Massachusetts represents the 3rd of 4 such leagues under development
by Bill Sampaio that are sanctioned directly by the United States
Futsal Federation under the leadership of Alexander Para.
The United States Futsal Federation is the national governing
authority that oversees all Futsal league development, policies and
competitions throughout the United States under the auspices of the
United States Youth Soccer Association and FIFA.
Coach Sampaio is proud to know that The Norfolk County Futsal League
will host the the 2005 Massachusetts State Cup Championships,
qualifying teams for the 2005 USFF Regional Tournament in
Pennsylvania and the 2005 USFF National Championships in California.
