Carlos Barbosa Wins Intercontinental Futsal Cup, World
United Loses Close Fifth-Place match

BARCELONA (2-22-04) -Fininho scored four goals to lead
Carlos Barbosa of Brazil past Playas de Castellón of
Spain 6-3 today in the final of the Intercontinental
Futsal Cup being played at the Planet Futbol Trade
Fair.

Action 21 won third place with an 8-4 victory over
PSTC Londrinas of Japan, and Ajax de Tánger won fifth
place by defeating World United of San Francisco, 7-5.

According to reports, Playas de Castellón was unable
to win the world club championship for the hundreds of
"castellonenses" who came to the Planetfutbol of
Barcelona to give their support. The "Albiazules" fell
to a Carlos Barbosa team that was the rightful winner.

The beginning of match was filled with tension, and
there were few attempts on goal because of the fear of
making an error. The first goal came in the seventh
minute as the result of the genius of Javi Rodriguez,
who created an opportunity that Tatu only had to push
into the goal. Carlinhos equalized a minute later for
the Brazilians.

Little by little, Carlos Barbosa gained control of the
match. The Brazilians went ahead 2-1 in the 10th
minute when Fininho finished an accurate
triangulation, and with the aid of international
goalkeeper Lavoisier, the Brazilians maintained their
slim edge for the rest of the half.

but Jonas regained the lead for Carlos Barbosa in the
