Mats Sundin snapped a third-period tie with a power-play goal as the
Toronto Maple Leafs edged the Vancouver Canucks, 2-1, and completed
the sweep of a home-and-home set.
When Canucks left wing Matt Cooke bumped into teammate Ed Jovanovski,
Sundin picked up the loose puck and released a long slap shot from
inside the blue line that beat goaltender Johan Hedberg with a little
over two minutes into the final period.
"He wound up in the zone, I thought he was going to go high," Hedberg
said. "But he switched the blade over at the last second and put it
low. You can't stop every shot, but if a guy like him comes into the
zone and tees it up, it's a tough shot."
"It's one of those things you wish didn't happen," Jovanovski
said. "It's a tough one to swallow."
