Teams are calling Phoenix's bluff.
St. Louis has already balked at Burke. The long-expected move of
rugged winger Brad May to Ottawa probably was derailed because of
over-pricing by Phoenix. The Coyotes apparently asked for defense
prospect Tim Gleason, the Senators No. 1 pi#k (23rd overall) in 2001.
May, said an NHL scout, "is a fourth-line player who can score the
odd goal in the playoffs. But Phoenix is asking way too much for this
guy. A third- or fourth- or fifth-round pick, that's all it's goin'
to cost.''
With Ottawa optin' to acquire Rob Ray from Buffalo, New Jersey is an
alternative landin' spot for May.
(See, they're discounting his leadership abilities again!)
