(When did the Dead Things pick up Woolhead?)
Pavel Datsyuk doesn't speak much English, but he doesn't need a lot
to sum up the chemistry he has with his linemates.
Datsyuk, Brett Hull and rookie Henrik Zetterberg combined for four
goals and five assists as the high-powered Detroit Red Wings extended
their winning streak to five games with a 5-2 victory over the
Phoenix Coyotes.
"It's a good line," said Datsyuk, a 24-year-old Russian in his second
NHL season. "They support me and I support them. Very happy, very
fun, very easy."
Datsyuk made it look easy, recording a point on each of Detroit's
first four goals. He set up Hull and Zetterberg in the second
period, scored in between and hit the net again in the third.
Numminen and fellow defenseman Drake Berehowsky scored for Phoenix,
which remained six points behind Edmonton for the eighth and final
playoff berth in the West.
The Coyotes accomplished their goal of keeping Detroit quiet in the
first period, but Hull opened the scoring midway through the second,
taking a feed from Datsyuk above the high slot and blasting a
patented one-timer through Boucher's legs.
It was the 27th goal of the season for Hull, who has enjoyed playing
with his young linemates.
"I can see why Brett likes them," Coyotes coach Bob Francis
said. "They're always looking for him."
