The Coyotes learned Monday that they will be without the services of
one of their inspirational leaders, left wing Brad May.
As expected, surgeons detected a muscle tear in a shoulder. May
underwent an operation in Los Angeles to repair the damage, and he
will be sidelined up to three months.
The Coyotes, who open the season Wednesday night in Los Angeles, also
placed second-year center Krys Kolanos on the injured list,
confirming that he is suffering from post-concussion syndrome.
His status is uncertain, but the 21-year-old could be out
indefinitely.
"We have no idea whatsoever," coach Bobby Francis said. "We just
don't know."
The injuries to May and Kolanos have altered the Coyotes' third and
fourth forward lines. May was set to play the left side on a unit
with Kelly Buchberger and right wing Landon Wilson.
