These are not really related, but Hall-of-Fame
defenseman Denny Potvin was appearing at the Blades game
this weekend as a special guest, and also ran a hockey
clinic for the spirits, mites and squirts. My BF coachs
Mites, so I was kind of looking around for things for
both of us to get signed when I ran across the Panini
set in the back of my closet. Sort of an usual item,
but Brad was in the 1992-93 set, so I pulled the
card/sticker and scanned it. Probably not something you'll
find at your local card shop, but if you run across
one, really not a bad set to have. (It's in the
default ablum, along with a couple of other things I
threw in!)

(As for Denny, I finally settled on
SI's Greatest Teams of All Time book, which was really
all I could find on short notice.)

After the
game, we were hanging out in the parking lot and he had
his card album w/him so I was looking through it and
I found the Upper Deck Vinatage card there. He
didn't know to turn it over because it didn't have a
Sabre logo on it, or so he claims. I said OOOooo can I
have this and he said sure, don't know who the dude is
anyway.

Obviously the look he got from me told
him that was the wrong thing to say, but before he
could backtrack I said " That's my buddy! That's my
boy!" He laughed and said "What about poor Pete? I
though he was your boy?" So I said, okay, Pete's my boy.
THIS is my MAN! He gave me a real blank look until I
said "Carrot Cake Man" at which point he started
laughing.

Well at least now he has a face to put to the Carrot
Cake tale.
