Hi Fans!
What a game last Sunday!! I trust most if not all of you watched the
hard fought (and sometimes sloppy) game The Patriots played last
Sunday against Chicago. They emerged victorious 17 to 13, giving The
Bears their second loss of the season and maintaining a 2 game lead
over The Jets for the East Division crown. Winning a game with 5
turnovers is pretty unheard of, but it helped that The Bears suffered
4 of their own. The Pats D played magnificently. There were many
bright spots for the offense too, but even though Chicago probably has
the best defense in the league, the receivers and backs really need to
work on holding on to the ball. They won't go far in the playoffs if
they don't step it up.
A big bummer of the game was losing Junior Seau for the season. I
have to admit that I was a little skeptical about signing a guy who
had essentially retired and had seen his best years past him. But
Junior certainly showed a lot of inspired play this year and he will
be sorely missed.
Meanwhile Asante Samuel received Defensive Player of the Week
recognition for his stellar secondary play that included 3
interceptions (tying a Pats team record!).
The Patriots are now 8 and 3 and are getting ready to take on the
Detroit Lions in Foxboro. The Lions have been struggling this year (2
and 9 so far), particularly on their defensive side. However, games
like this can be traps. The Lions at times have played well and lost
some close games. The Patriots must be ready for them like any other
team. Game time is at 10AM. The local broadcast games have not been
announced yet. I'm assuming this will only be available via
satellite, but then again that's what I thought for the game against
The Packers and it was shown here.
Good seeing the 20 or so Pats fans at Spitfire last week. Hope to see
more of you this Sunday!
Go Pats!
Chris
What an unbelievable display of heart our guys have shown. With all the
key injuries on defence how in the world are they pulling it off.Just
5 more weeks left, man this season flew by.And I'm still standing by my
hopes of a 13-3 season. It looked shaky for a couple of weeks. So after
our guys turned da bears into little cubs let's look ahead shall
we.The lions,dolphins,texans,jags & titans(R-U KIDDING ME!)I don't
know these teams rush defence, but I hope to see a strong dose of
Dillon & Maroney.Dillon just has to shake that fumble bug that he
aquired.LET'S RUN THE TABLE GUYS!
GO PATS!
I'm out of town for the holidays too and will just have to settle for watching the game from inside the stadium. :~)
Happy Thanksgiving all!!
Go Pats!

Hi Pats Fans,
After two disappointing losses, it was obviously great to see The Patriots beat up on Green Bay 35 to 0 last Sunday. Good to see many of you folks at Spitfire (glad you're liking the new hang out!). The place will no doubt have a bunch of Bears fans there (there were some last week and my co-worker/friend who's loves da Bears has promised to be in attendance), so I hope we'll have more than enough Patriots fans to keep the crowd noise in our favor. The game is at 1PM (later than originally scheduled). I'm out of town right now, but will be back in time to see this very big game. Hope you all get to watch it and that I see many of you on Sunday.

Hey folks,
Just to quell a rumor, the Patriots/Packers game tomorrow is still
scheduled for 10AM. There was some talk about the NFL making it later
(which they did to The Bears game next week), but it seems that is not
the case. We're still on for an early start tomorrow. Hope to see
some of you at Spitfire tomorrow!
Go Pats!

Hi Gang,
Well for the first time since 2002, The Patriots lost two home games
in a row as they suffered a recent Sunday loss to division rivals the
New York Jets 17 to 14. Although there were periods of solid play
from the defense, the offense and special teams struggled too much too
often, particularly during the first 3 quarters. They were very much
in comeback-mode toward the end, but ran out of timeouts and time on
the clock to come up with a win. It was a particularly bitter loss to
take being against former asst. Eric Mangini and a Jets team that is
now only one game behind The Pats in the East Division title race.
They've got to turn things around quickly and hopefully they can start
back on the right track against a mediocre Green Bay Packers team this
Sunday. The game is at Green Bay. But ironically that aspect
shouldn't worry us considering The Pats have been looking much better
on the road than at home.
Game time is at 10AM. According to the gribblenation website, this
game is scheduled to be shown on broadcast TV in Seattle (on CBS). So
if you want, you can likely fall out of bed and see our boys on TV
this Sunday. Or you can join many of us at Spitfire on 4th Street in
Belltown (which is a way more fun thing to do :) ). We will have the
back room reserved for Patriots fans like we have 2 of the last 3
weeks. Cheers to the 16 of you who joined me last Sunday. Hope more
can join us soon. Everyone who has stopped by has loved the nicer
TV's, more comfortable surroundings and good food.
Go Pats!

David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez are widely regarded as the most feared and productive No. 3 and 4 hitters in the game. They certainly are earning enough hardware to prove it.
Ramirez collected his eighth consecutive Silver Slugger Award, and ninth overall, while Ortiz won his third straight Friday as voted by Major League coaches and managers.
Ramirez added another Silver Slugger to his treasure chest by
pounding 35 homers and driving in 102 runs while hitting .321. Ortiz set a Red Sox record by clouting 54 home runs last season, while driving in 137 runs and hitting .287. Full story »

I grew up in Jersey as a Mets fan and with Jets season tickets, and therefore went to school in Boston hating the Yankees and the Pats. That made one transition (Sox) easy and the other meaning I'd be thrown out of my family. My dad is of the sort that I could marry a girl of any race or creed and there'd be no issue, but heaven help me if I brought home a Pats or Dolphins fan. =) (And it will be the same for my kids... only reasonable.)

Hi Gang,
Last Sunday night's game was quite a bummer. Even with 5 turnovers, the feeling that The Patriots were going to pull off another victory over The Colts was in the air. How often do you see Adam Vinitieri miss two kicks in a game? Unfortunately too many mistakes cost our boys the game to the tune of 27 to 20. The Patriots are now 6 and 2 as they face the New York Jets this coming Sunday at 10AM.
Here is a schedule of the remaining regular season games:
11/12 vs NewYork Jets 10:00 AM 11/19 @ GreenBay Packers 10:00 AM 11/26 vs Chicago Bears 10:00 AM 12/3 vs Detroit Lions 10:00 AM 12/10 @ Miami Dolphins 10:00 AM 12/17 vs Houston Texans 10:00 AM 12/24 @ Jacksonville Jaguars 10:00 AM 12/31 @ Tennessee Titans 10:00 AM
As you can see, they are all morning games. I have every reason to believe that at least 6 of these games will not be broadcast on Seattle TV. So it means watching on satellite and
hopefully all together at a favorite bar. Which brings me to the "big news" portion of this posting.
For the last couple of weeks a few of us have foregone going to Floyd's Place in favor of Spitfire which is over in Belltown. We had a great and very comfortable time! I spoke of this place at the beginning of the season and their offer to accommodate a Patriots watching area, but lack of feedback or good feelings about our present place kept the bigger gatherings at Floyds. A couple of times this season Floyd's has run into technical difficulties with their projection TV. Most of the crew there has been very good to us and have tried to accommodate us as best they can. But when another establishment can offer us so much more, I have to say it may be time to cut the cord and go elsewhere.
Of course you are all welcome to remain at Floyds or whereever it is you choose to watch. But a concerted effort has now being worked
out to have Patriots fans have their own large private room to watch games at Spitfire.
Here are the details:
Spitfire is located at 2219 4th Avenue, between Bell and Blanchard Streets in the Belltown section of Seattle (north downtown for you newbies).
They have a back room (larger than the backroom at Floyds) that will be reserved for Patriots fans the rest of the season.
The back room includes couches and a couple of lounge chairs. The rest of the seating is standard chairs and wooden tables (not high stools and covered pool tables).
The menu is a bit more expensive, but much more varied and much better prepared (see menu at http://www.spitfire seattle.com/ brunch.html). They specialize in Mexican cuisine as opposed to BBQ.
They have a large projection screen (newer and nicer model than Floyds) and two large LCD
TV's on side walls to watch other games.
If we consistently have a 25 person or more crowd, they will likely schedule a dedicated bartender in that room. Nevertheless, they always have more than one waitress working which Floyds neglects to do.
There are some downsides (to me, minor ones) to Spitfire. Their beer selection is very limited (only 3 draft, the rest are in bottles). The vibe of the front room is more like a trendy Belltown restaurant than a sports bar/restaurant. But some of you I trust will like that better - it's a matter of taste. Free parking spaces can be a bit more difficult to find, but honestly not much more than Queen Anne is. In fact, if you can't find street parking, there are two parking lots in very close distance to Spitfire. So you'll definitely have
a nearby place to put your car no matter what.
I very much welcome feedback from any and all of you about this. The recent overwhelmingly positive feedback about Spitfire cannot be ignored hence I invite all of you to join me at Spitfire for the upcoming Patriots/Jets game this Sunday at 10AM.
So you’re a Jets fan AND a Red Sox fan!? Man – that is a LOT of suffering in your life. I think tar and feathering would be too much salt in your wounds (unless of course The Jets ever beat The Patriots (perish the thought) – then I can’t take responsibility for anyone’s actions ;) ).

I was almost going to say probably not...until that last statement in your email so now i would have to say...tarred and feathered would be to good for you!

Hi, my name's Phil Miller, and I'm an ex-New Yorker/ Bostonian living in Redmond. I have an important question.
So... if I'm a Red Sox fan but also a Jets fan, can I expect to be tarred and feathered? (Or will the Red Sox devotion save me from physical harm?)
And, if you didn't notice, the Jets gained a 1/2 game on the Pats this weekend. =) If you turn over the ball 5 times this week, we might have a chance.

Hi Gang,
Last Sunday night's game was quite a bummer. Even with 5 turnovers, the feeling that The Patriots were going to pull off another victory over The Colts was in the air. How often do you see Adam Vinitieri miss two kicks in a game? Unfortunately too many mistakes cost our boys the game to the tune of 27 to 20. Once again we lost Rodney to injury.Hopefully Seau's emergence can keep that defensive spark going. We can definitely go 14-2 but the bears, dolphins & jags will be tough games. Not to concerned about the colts, quite frankly they will not beat us in the playoffs. As I've said the colts & bears might be our only other losses. But "you play to win the game",we'll start with jets & one game at a time.
GO PATS!!! I LOVE THESE GUYS:)

Go Pats!
Chris
Hi Fans!
As great as the Patriots are, I'm trying to remember the last time we
had two games in a row where the Pats dominated every quarter. This
past Monday's victory over The Vikings was particularly sweet after
seeing so many "experts" predict a Minnesota win (except the guys on
CBS - kudos to them!). As most of you know The Pats blew away the
competion on National TV - 31 to 7. If there weren't a couple of
blown tackles on special teams, it would have been a shutout. Our
boys are now 6 and 1 as they take on a conceivably tougher test - the
(barely) undefeated Indianapolis Colts. The Patriots have for the
most part owned these guys for a few years now (like the Broncos have
sort of owned us). They are a great team and certainly shouldn't and
won't be taken lightly. Luckily the game is in Foxboro. It could
easily be a precursor to a playoff game later this year.
Game time is 5:15PM this Sunday and will be broadcast on NBC. I
didn't make it to Floyds last Sunday and I'm not sure if I will be
this Sunday either. However I have heard rumor that the back room
projection TV was repaired (someone please confirm this if you can).
Either way - make sure you watch this game folks! It promises to be a
good one as the Patriots drive for another East Division crown.
Go Pats!
Chris
For nationally televised games (particularly the night games) a lot of folks tend to stay at home and watch. Although I would guess there will be a small group at Floyds anyway.
The Hawks and Pats will actually be playing two games together next pre-season. They will play one at Qwest Field, then go to Beijing for the second one. So there will be an opportunity to cheer on our boys relatively soon. They are also slated to play at Qwest for a regular season game in 2008.

Well, I don’t know if I’d say they are the only team that matters (Go Pats!). But that being said, as usual I will be planning a couple of group outings for one game in each of these series (probably June 25 and August 4). I’ll check in with you all once group reservations open up for Safeco Field.

Ok, I realize it's only week 7 of the NFL season, and there's actually
a couple of teams still playing baseball, but a tentative 2007
schedule has been released.
Looks like another 6 games in Seattle for 07. Though, only 1 weekend
series. June 25-27 (Mon-Wed) and August 3-5 (Fri-Sun).
