Subject: Patriots Season Kick-Off This Sunday! Red Sox in town next week!

Hi All!

I'm sure you are all as psyched as I am in anticipation for two Boston sports
happenings coming up in a few days. The first week of the 2010 NFL season is
upon us at last and the Patriots will be playing this Sunday in Foxboro - taking
on the Cincinnati Bengals. Cincy has a solid team and it'll be interesting to
see how the addition of Terrell Owens will affect them. Either way, I'm glad
our boys are at home for this one. Game time is at 10AM PST. As we have the
last few years, there will be a Patriots fan gathering at Spitfire (2219 4th
Ave. in Belltown, between Bell & Blanchard Streets). For Sunday morning/early
afternoon games, we'll be watching in the back room at Spitfire. I'd love to
see a big crew of us for the season kick-off so I hope a lot of you can join us
for this game. Spitfire has a full bar and a brunch menu.

Also coming up is the Red Sox next visit to Safeco Field. They'll be in town
next week (9/13 - 9/15) taking on the Seattle Mariners. Approximately 85 of us
will be sitting together in Section 147 (left field, down third base line) for
the Monday September 13th game. Being a work day, we have no particular
pre-game party plans. If any of you want to suggest a place for some of you to
gather beforehand, feel free to post here. Due to work related reasons, I will
unfortunately be late in arriving at the game (hope to be there by the 3rd or
4th inning). The window for our boys to get back in the playoff picture is
closing fast, but they still do have a chance. So this whole series is very big
for the Sox. Let's hope they can get a sweep and stay in the race.

Go Pats! Go Sox!

Hey everyone I just moved to Seattle from Boston about a week ago and luckily I
found this group. I had a question about watching the pats/sox/bruins/celtics.
What places are good to watch our teams? Ive noticed that alot of people say
Spitfire is a good place. I will be here Sunday to watch the pats. Are there any
other meet up spots for pats fans as well? Ive been worrying the past week about
where Id be able to catch the game sunday and now it looks like Ill be at
spitfire.

I have 4 tickets to Monday's game. They are in Sec. 116 which is between 1B and
RF in Row 35. (nice view) If anyone is interested I will let them go real
cheap. I will be at Spitfire tomorrow and we can talk there!

Hi Joe,

Welcome to Seattle!  Spitfire is the place that the majority of gatherers on this list go.  I think this will be our 4th season watching the Pats there.  They give us the back room on Sundays which is pretty sweet (couches, big projection screen).  There are other good sports bars in town (Fremont Dock, Floyds Place, The Spectator, Sport, Fox Sports Grill), but I couldn't tell you how many Pats fans go there.  Hopefully we'll have at least 30 (if not more) Pats fans at Spitfire.  Please feel free to introduce yourself to me if you make it (I organize these gatherings - I'll likely be the guy putting a banner up and sitting on one of the couches - usually I wear a Bruschi shirt, but I might change that up for tomorrow).

We unfortunately didn't get any group seats for the Wednesday game Josh.  But there will be many of us at the game - spread out around the stadium (I'm sitting somewhere behind home plate).  There are plenty of tickets available from the Mariners, so you should have no problem getting in.

Tickets should be easy to come by for tonight and Wednesday. Last night, even the scalpers outside the stadium were offering up tix as low as $10 each just to get rid of them. Plenty of room to move down too once the game starts.

Hi Fans!

What a great way to start off the NFL season - a Patriots victory against a
formidable Cincinnati Bengals team (38 to 24 - not as close as the score shows)!
The team looked solid on all sides of the ball. Seeing Wes Welker play after
suffering a horrendous injury late last season was truly inspiring. Seeing a
young defense guard well against one of the best offenses in the conference was
very encouraging. And it was quite relieving seeing the great Tom Brady play a
stellar game despite a car accident a few days earlier.

It was also great to see approx. 35 people at Spitfire on Sunday! Welcome to
all the new folks who joined us for the first time. Looking forward to seeing
all of you for the second week of the NFL season this Sunday at 1:15PM when the
Pats take on the NY Jets at the Meadowlands. The Jets come off a tough loss to
the Baltimore Ravens. They are dealing with a lot of off field controversy
which will hopefully distract them somewhat. It'll likely be a tough game
nevertheless and is a very big one against a rival that on paper has improved
over the last year.

I'm not clear yet if the game will be on regular broadcast TV or not this
Sunday. But even if it is, it's more fun to watch with fellow Patriots fans, so
I hope to see many of you this coming weekend.

Go Pats!

Yes, it seems weird that they would grab two Pats games in a row when both teams are east coast but who cares, I'll take it.  : )

Great turnout at Spitfire on Sunday -- it's nice to get together with the 'old gang' and see new faces as well!

The Jets come off a tough loss to the Baltimore Ravens. They are dealing with a lot of off field controversy which will hopefully distract them somewhat. It'll likely be a tough game nevertheless and is a very big one against a rival that on paper has improved over the last year.

I'm not clear yet if the game will be on regular broadcast TV or not this Sunday. But even if it is, it's more fun to watch with fellow Patriots fans, so I hope to see many of you this coming weekend.

Go Pats!
Chris

Yes, it seems weird that they would grab two Pats games in a row when both teams are east coast but who cares, I'll take it.  : )

Great turnout at Spitfire on Sunday -- it's nice to get together with the 'old gang' and see new faces as well!

God bless CBS for showing the Pats two weeks back to back; exclusive east coast games back to back, tentatively. This is not good for anti Pats people and/or anti east coast games people. Sucks to be then. Thanx CBS !!

Hi Fans!

What a great way to start off the NFL season - a Patriots victory against a formidable Cincinnati Bengals team (38 to 24 - not as close as the score shows)! The team looked solid on all sides of the ball. Seeing Wes Welker play after suffering a horrendous injury late last season was truly inspiring. Seeing a young defense guard well against one of the best offenses in the conference was very encouraging. And it was quite relieving seeing the great Tom Brady play a stellar game despite a car accident a few days earlier.

Hi All!

Hopefully you've all gotten over that tough loss to The Jets and are looking
forward to a potentially nice bounce back against the Buffalo Bills in Foxboro.
Tough pills to swallow are the lack of play in the second half last Sunday and
losing Kevin Faulk for the season. But there is still a good team on the field
and a lot of football left in this young season, so keep the faith and make time
to watch our boys this Sunday.

Thanks to all who showed up to Spitfire for last Sunday's game (about 42 which
is great for a locally broadcast game!). Many of us will be there this Sunday
at 10AM (doors open at 9AM) for this next game. Unfortunately we've run into a
little snag at our usual venue. I was just informed that a long standing
birthday party/Seahawks watching party was scheduled for this Sunday in the back
room. Even though the Hawks game isn't until 1pm, the guests are expected to
arrive as early as Noon. Therefore I'm sorry to say that we can't have our
usual Sunday day exclusive use of the back room. Amy Nevins (the GM there) is
very sorry for the oversight and doesn't expect that to happen again (note that
we usually have this set-up for night games however). The good news is that we
will have control of the whole north deck (the elevated area in the front room
to the right, near the bathrooms) that should be able to accommodate all. The
game will be on at least 3 or 4 of the TV's and the sound for our game will be
up (plus we'll be able to monitor another game or two if we want). So it won't
be quite as comfy without the sofas, but the game will be prominently on and the
staff there will try to take care of us as best they can. I look forward to
seeing many of you this Sunday! The game will not be on locally broadcast TV,
so if you don't make it to Spitfire you'll need to find some place with NFL
Sunday Ticket.

Go Pats!
Chris

While it wasn't a pretty win (particularly on the defensive side of the ball),
it was good to see The Patriots come up with an important victory against
division rival the Buffalo Bills (38 to 30 the final). We continued to see the
new offensive game plans that include more tight end involvement. Aaron
Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski have been excellent additions to the line-up that
is sadly absent of Kevin Faulk. The rest of the offense has been playing pretty
solidly too. The defense however really needs to step things up as the team
gets into a very tough portion of their schedule (Miami, Baltimore, and San
Diego being the next 3 opponents - 2 of them are Away games). It'll be
interesting to see as always. :)

It was great to see approximately 36 Patriots fans at Spitfire last Sunday
(great to see a lot of new folks as well!)! Thanks for bearing with the front
room instead of the cozy couch filled back room (I am told an additional TV will
be put in there soon by the way). A funny comment I heard from Kevin the
bartender was from some fans from some other teams asked him when they'd put us
back in the back room (Apparently they were just as disappointed that we were
there. I guess they noticed our cheering. ;)). It's likely however to be the
same situation for the next game.

Since the next game is a night game that is locally broadcast, we usually have
smaller numbers and so we've generally met up in the front for those games.
I'll double check with the manager there, but we'll likely be in the north deck
of the front room again (returning to the back room for the Baltimore game).
The sound will certainly be up and frankly it wouldn't surprise me if we made up
the majority of customers there anyway.

Game time is at 5:30PM on Monday October 4th. The Pats take on the Miami
Dolphins in Miami. It's always a tough place to win. The Dolphins are coming
off a loss to the NY Jets and are beatable as long as New England plays their A
game. Hope to see many of you for the action on Monday!

Go Pats!

Before I get to the football talk, I just want to say it was very sweet to see
The Sox end their season in style by beating the Yankees and taking them out of
winning the East Division crown. Of course we're bummed that they aren't in the
post-season, but considering all the injuries and adversity they had to endure
over the last few months, I'm pretty proud of how the team did. We've got some
great young players that promise to be greater next year. Big props to Mike
Lowell as he sails out into the sunset of retirement. He's a class act and I'll
miss seeing him in the dugout. It'll be another interesting off-season as we
see who remains and who leaves. For now I guess the only other thing I can say
about baseball is - Go Twins! ;)

On to football - the damn Jets have been on a roll lately and just rolled right
over the Bills, so our boys really have to have their A game in Miami to stay on
track. Unfortunately they'll be without Fred Taylor (toe injury) and Nick
Kaczur. BenJarvus will have to step up for the running game along with some
help from Woodhead, and Sammy. Like most of you, the Defense I'm worried about.
But I'm keeping the faith nevertheless! Game time is at 5:30PM. Hope a lot of
you can join us at Spitfire tomorrow!

Go Pats!
Chris

P.S. A big welcome to all the new folks on this list! The more the merrier.
Please spread the word about us to any other Boston fans you know or see!

Wow, I thought that subject line was going to be some sort of prank.  I wonder how this possibility will sit with #12?
