Hi Gang,
A big thanks to the 38 or so folks that came to Floyd's this past
Thursday to witness The
Patriots domination over the Oakland Raiders on the NFL opening day.
After a shaky start
The Pats came away with a convincing 30 to 20 victory. Now they look
toward their old
Super Bowl foes the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers lost a close one
to the New Orleans
Saints the other day and lost their star Kris Jenkins on top of it
all. But they will be at
home and still have a very solid team so our boys will still need to
be at their best. There
was some disatisfaction in the Patriots camp regarding the defensive
play last week so you
can believe that they are working hard this week to plug up any holes
they might have.
Game time is at 10AM this Sunday. A bunch of us will be at Floyd's
as usual. I'm not
positive, but it's looking like this one will not be broadcast on
regular TV in Seattle so
you'll need satellite TV.
The Red Sox are of course winding down their regular season. The
standings are still tight
as they only have a 3 game lead over the Yankees. For the last week
of the season, the
Sox and Yanks will be playing a 3 game series (Sep. 30 to Oct. 2).
We'll probably have
some gatherings for these games (particularly the Friday & Sunday
games) as well as the
playoffs (provided the Sox don't choke down the stretch - I know,
perish the thought!).
Also want to share with you all an entertaining site that Rick C
passed along:

Lastly, for those of you into Boston rock n roll, you might remember
a band that used to
play around Boston & Cambridge in the 90's called The Flying Nuns.
Kevin Sweeney who
occasionally joins us at Floyds was in that band and they will be
doing a reunion show here
in Seattle soon. The gig is on Friday September 30th at 7:30PM at
the Sunset Tavern in
Ballard.
Hope to see you all on Sunday!
Go Pats, Go Sox!!
Chris
