Gym Rat to Competitive Bodybuilder   Message List

Hi All!!

I'm the owner of the club and I have competed once as a bodybuilder
fifteen years ago. Now, I'm approaching my 40th birthday and thinking
about all that gym time I've spent just keeping in shape and staying
strong and I feel good about it. However, I have decided to use this
milestone to start getting back into contest shape. I'm going to give
myself a year to get competitive and then enter a local (for me, San
Jose or San Francisco) show. My goal is not to win (I'm not delusional
enough to think I can manage that big of transformation) but simply be
competitive with the other masters athletes at the show. As I
formulate my battle plan and assess where I am physically compared to
where I need to be, I will keep the members up to date. I'm guessing
that sharing a competition prep situation could be helpful to other
members.

As always, I welcome any comments, support, criticism, etc. Also if
any of you have a story to tell about training, just starting training,
competing that you want to share, please--I welcome it!!
