Hello,
I figured I would take a second to mention my website, skunkboy.net,
to the community here. While I've been around in some way, shape, or
form since about 1996, I just recently did a major overhaul for the
first time since 2001.
While my site is finally adding BMX and MotoCross to the already
active sections of other sports by request, I have no real way to get
out and get the photos. As much as I don't mind having the section, I
wish I had pictures to fill it with... this is where you guys may be
able to help.
Ever since day one of my site and especially when I started branching
out to be big like I am today, I've tried to keep away from the pros.
Granted they're good and all; but, I like to give "the little guy" a
chance to be recognized. I always remember doing things that were too
scary to do more than once and then telling people that I had done
whatever it was and nobody believed me. The cool thing about my site
is that now, you can do that thing that's only going to happen once,
you can do that thing that nobody believes, and there's picture proof
of it. That and also my site can be pointed out if you try for
sponsorship. Needless to say, over two dozen people from my site have
gained some sort of low-level (but yet well appreciated) sponsorship
if even only from local companies in part because of having seen
photos from my site.
So yes, this is an open invitation to everybody. If you've got photos
that you would like posted on a site which in June alone received
172,164 hits, feel free to get in touch with me. Again, I try not to
repeat content found elsewhere and try to stay away from pros also
because of royalty issues. Check it out, take a look around, pass
word of the site onto others, and if you would like to send your
personal photos in, I would be glad to put them into the collection.
I'm not making anything off of the site; I do it just for fun. To be
exact, I lose about $130/month to the dedicated server that it's on.
Your photos aren't going to someone who is tryin' to make money with
your image and run... it's just a "good-will gesture" I guess if you
wanted to put it that way.
Take care and hope to hear from some of you,
Skunkboy
