Is anyone riding Thursday? It looks like I may luck out and get the day off and
would love to ride a bit.

There I Was...
some where around the Florida-Alabama border, heading south with
about 70 miles behind me; fatigued, wind (still) into my face, knees
aching, but I have put the pain out of mind...I've reached
recumbent "Zen". I've overcome the futile wish for a non-existent SAG
wagon, set aside the analysis of clock-time involved in calling the
spouse. I've even overcome thoughts of permanently severing my
friendship with the entire John Short family and have resigned myself
to accomplishing this task. As I come down a slight decline with
another rising grade in front of me, I persevere...I'm in the zone.
Then it happens.dogs.five, no, seven of them, from the woods on both
sides! I'm mashing, and hard, two more from the left.CRAP! Its' up-
hill! Heart pounding, another pair bounce out from the right. It's an
AMBUSH! I reach down and grab a water bottle and squirt and arc to my
left, nailing the closest one (a yapping little
Chihuahua/greyhound/bull-mastiff mix I bet) an get him with a good
blast.must peddle harder.almost to the top; most have given up the
chase. I bare down even harder, realizing with some dismay that I've
just shot ¾ of a bottle of Hammer HEED away. A quick check in my
mirror and my confidence grows.all are beaten save one.the little
Chihuahua-mastiff, he's coming on with renewed speed and stamina,
it's then a sinking thought enters my head; (damn, this Hammer HEED
stuff works on dogs too!). I've topped the hill, and shift into the
big ring, gaining speed quickly. I've WON! I've met the enemy and
he is mine! Wow do my legs hurt.only about 30 miles left, and that
hill just before the Munson stop, and those rollers down Munson
highway. Dang if there were a SAG wagon right now, I might just take
it.wonder how long it'd take my wife to get here? Nah! She would
just get lost trying to find me. That frigg'n Short.always talks me
into this crap! I gotta quit hang'n out with him on weekends.

Next one's on Jan 7th? Okay!

George
