Subject: Re: [bitlessbridle] Re: blinkers/no blinkers
I read that back in the 1800's in London, the debate about with/without
blinkers raged. A large firm (delivery) decided that blinkers were
unnecessary, and took them off all their teams. From then on they
operated without them, and never had a problem...
Some countries/regions in Europe traditionally went blinkerless, I have
also heard that it is a more recent (the last 100 years) trend.
I have my stallion being trained to harness currently, and he will be
trained initially in an open bitless bridle, then in blinkers, sometimes
bitless, sometimes not. I wouldn't bother with blinkers (or a bit), but
to get out and compete, in Australia we HAVE to have both. At home he
will be driven without either.
