I'm happy to hear you gained your confidence back, I'm sure it was a long road for you.
I also started riding bitless in a rope halter (four about 4 years) before I was introduced to Dr. Cooks Bitless bridle.
I still use them allot first.
As a horse trainer I work with new prob;em horses almost daily many of them with a strong desire to buck or rear requiring a stronger correction, then I work with clients on ground techniques flexing, giving to pressure to back up etc. then switch to Dr. Cooks. Sometimes many of my clients need to see results right away so they don't give up on their horse. Then they will put in the time in that it takes to get that relationship.
The horse didn't become a problem overnight but many expect it to be fixed in a session.
