RE: [bitlessbridle] What to do when someone steals your idea?

Oh, goodness, I’ve never had that happen before but you should get a good patent attorney involved.  Imagine if every manufacturer decided to sell their clients inventions and put their name on it!  You would have Chinese companies slapping Gucci labels on stuff and selling them on the streets of New York city!  Oh wait! That is really happening!  Seriously though, there certainly are laws to protect you.  Have your lawyer send a cease and desist letter to her.  That usually gets their attention.  If that doesn’t work, then you might end up in court if it is that important to you.

Subject: [bitlessbridle] What to do when someone steals your idea?

Hi again bitless riding pals!
I have a question for you: As some of you know, I designed and sell a bitless rope riding
halter called the Aeron Riding Halter, for which I have a patent pending. Recently, my
manufacturer, Tammy of Tammy's Rope Tack, has decided to sell my halter on her website
and call it her own. Although she acknowledges that I had the original idea, sent her my
drawings and descriptions when she agreed to make them for me, she now feels that, since
she MADE the first one, she should be able to sell them as her own, and cut me out
completely. I think it all boils down to the fact that she saw sales were starting to increase,
and she decided to help herself to a little larger piece of the pie! I will continue to sell them (I
have found a new manufacturer who is more in line with my standards, both professionally
and ethically).

Has anyone else run into this sort of problem before? I would be grateful for any advice.

Thanks!

~Aeron
