Bob, ... I have double sided SPDs, i.e. flat on one side. A folded one on one side would help a little. I wish someone would invent a folding SPD/flat pedal....

I think those little SPD frog pedals would protrude much less, and they are rounded rather than squared off which helps in the "poking" department too ;)...
