At least I didn't go back down it today, didn't think all the riders coming up the hill at 5-6 mph would appreciate me going down it at 40+).

Wonderful day for a century, I figured out how to beat the system and finish the
century at a reasonable time. All I needed to do was start at 5:30 and avoid
most of the hills. Found myself in Winter Garden at 8:00 (kind of missed the
2,000 rider start). Finally left the waterfront park at 9:30 to start the 70

didn't think all the riders coming up the hill at 5-6 mph would appreciate me
going down it at 40+).

This year it was Todd's turn to catch me going the wrong way. He saw me at
least twice while I was on the bike path going the wrong way. At least I was
going the right way when he and I started up Sugarloaf at the same time, he just
got to the top a little (ok, a LOT) sooner than I did.

Evelyn - I did see you just before 9:00 as you were about to make the left turn
off Hwy 50 onto Blackstill Lake Rd. At least I hope it was you when I hollered
"EVELYN".

Hope everyone enjoyed the day as much as I did.

Evelyn (and everyone else headed to the Horrible Hundred),

Can I just do Sugarloaf backwards??? It took me 6 minutes to climb the hill
(5.3 mph average) but only 1 minute to descend (28.7 mph average - top speed
41.7 mph) - I want to ride the hill in the wrong direction!!!!!!

Oops - I climbed Sugarloaf twice this afternoon. I forgot, you told me to not
repeat hills - does that mean I don't need to climb Sugarloaf tomorrow????

Just rechecked tomorrow's weather for the ride and it still looks good - winds
only 3 to 4 mph from the north, bright and sunny all day. If today was any
indication, be sure to bring sunscreen. I only rode a couple hours and can feel
the sunburn on my legs.

Will be looking for the group in the morning, have a safe trip up here. See
everyone tomorrow - if I can find you among the 2,000 riders registered for the
ride.

Dennis, to get to my house, take Hammock road off of 27. Go  about 1.5 miles, turn right into Golf Hamddock on Golf Hammock road. Take your first right, about 200 yds. onto Par. Follow Par for about 3/4 mile, then take a right on Duffer. Follow Duffer by the lake and aroung the curve. We are the 5th house on right at 3004 Duffer. Just look for the brown van. See you in the am.

Evelyn,

Just looked at the Clermont weather for Sunday. Sunrise is at 6:50, the sun
will have been up for just over an hour at the start of the ride so it should be
warming up pretty quickly. I will probably wear my arm warmers to start but I'm
not going to use leg warmers or my windbreaker (hope I don't regret that
decision).

The Sunday forecast weather for Clermont is:

Sunny and clear all day

7 am: 52 degrees, winds from the NNE at 4 mph, RH 91%
11 am: 68 degrees, winds from the NNW at 3 mph, RH 51%
3 pm: 75 degrees, winds from the NW at 3 mph, RH 41%

As I recall, we go north (into the wind) to start so we should have a light
tailwind for the last part of the ride. Looks like it will be a great day to go
for a bike ride. Hope to see you there.

As far as going in the correct direction, I will try (but I am not going to
promise anything!!!).

Leonard

Some of you folks should have joined me today - went to Lake Wales for a century
and a little hill practice before Sunday (of course I just got back - 3:20 pm).
Had a good ride even though I had to fight a crosswind almost all the way back -
flags showed the wind coming directly from the west!!!!! Looking forward to
seeing the group Sunday. Just look for the guy riding the course in the wrong
direction.

Beth,

Good luck on Sunday to both you and James.  From what I saw you guys are ready.  I enjoyed this morning's ride also, but would have enjoyed it even more had my better half been there.  Maybe I can talk her into coming along in the near future.

Gary

Had a great, invigorating ride this morning from the Bike Shop.  James, Gary, Fred, Bill (the musician) and I rode Highlands Ridge and Avon Pines in beautiful, cool weather.  We saw Leonard twice - heading in the wrong direction both times but riding strong.  I'm starting to really like the Friday morning rides.  Looking forward to the Horrible Hundred on Sunday!!
