>We have a wonderful opportunity to bring a United States National
Cycling Championship to our region if we act immediately!
>
>USA Cycling is seeking a new venue for the 2002 Masters National Track
>Championships. These events were to have been held August 6-11 at the
>"Superdrome" in Frisco, TX, but because of problems that cannot be
>repaired in time the venue must be changed.
>
>One of the sites under consideration is the Washington Park Velodrome
in Kenosha, Wisconsin. This track is the oldest velodrome in the United
>States and is celebrating its 75th year of continuous racing.
Washington Park Velodrome has in the past hosted numerous national
championships for juniors, collegiate, elite and masters riders over
its long history. Many national and world champions, record holders,
Olympians, and other distinguished riders have competed at this track.
>
>I am making a personal appeal to everyone in this e-mail to ask for
your immediate support in bringing this event to this area. Whether you
are currently a track cyclist or a masters (30+) competitor or not has
no relevance. It is an opportunity to see some of the best cyclists in
the US compete for the honor of wearing the "Stars & Stripes" jersey
and being crowned the US National Champion.
>
>The decision of where this event will be hosted will be made by next
weekend! Here is what we need to do:
>
>Send a brief e-mail of support as soon as possible to:
