Professional cyclists Greg LeMond, Frankie Andreu, Frank McCormack to
visit Brookfield Wheel and Sprocket
BROOKFIELD, Wis. (December 12, 2001) - A Who's Who of American cycling
will visit the Brookfield Wheel and Sprocket on Wednesday, December
19.
Three-time Tour de France winner Greg LeMond, nine-time Tour de France
competitor and Olympian Frankie Andreu, and former USPRO Criterium
Champion and International Cycling Classic winner Frank McCormack will
sign autographs, mingle with the crowd, and share their experiences as
professional cyclists.
"This is an unprecedented opportunity for sports enthusiasts from
around the area to meet and greet three of the most respected cyclists
in America," says Chris Kegel, president of Wheel and Sprocket.
Activities will be held at the Brookfield Wheel and Sprocket, 13925
Capitol Drive, Brookfield, beginning at 6 p.m. with a meet and greet
session. A full program begins at 7 p.m. and runs until 10 p.m., and
includes a raffle of pro items and a poster signing.
In 1996, LeMond became the first American to win the world's most
prestigious multi-day sporting event, the Tour de France. His
determination and skill became evident when he came back from a near-
fatal hunting accident to win the Tour de France in 1989 and 1990.
Frankie Andreu is a two-time Olympian and the only American rider to
complete the rigorous Tour de France an incredible nine times. As a
member of the United States Postal Service, Andreu was an integral
part of the team that helped catapult Lance Armstrong to victory. He
will present a slide show of the 2001 Tour de France.
Frank McCormack is a familiar name cycling enthusiasts in southeastern
Wisconsin. He's a steady presence on the Saturn cycling team and a
former champion of the International Cycling Classic (Superweek).
McCormack will be sharing his training and racing regimen, giving a
glimpse into what it takes to be a professional cyclist.
"We are excited to have these three exceptional cyclists here," Kegel
says. "We encourage all sports enthusiasts to come out and 'Meet the
Pros'."
