My buddy and I rode this Friday, and I agree, it was in the best condition it has been for a while..
The tunnels were very clean...only a bit of sand...
The only issue I had was on the return at the Thienes (sp) entrance (which is at the south end of the construction zone), there were dump trucks backing down into the river bed to dump dirt, so there was slowdown trying to get around them, but that was it...the contruction signs are still up,but the path is totally open!

Bernie,
I do agree about the San Gabriel crossing....it is very confusing. I had heard a rumor that there was going to be some signs put up there...possible when they work on the path from Whittier down south a bit...I recall a post a few months ago reffering to some mor eupcoming construction this spring..
Does anyone have any more info on this?
thanks
herb

Subject: San Gabriel River Bike Trail

I rode this trail round-trip, end to end yesterday, and I'm happy to
report that it's in good shape and a pleasure to ride. There's one
place, near the intersection with San Gabriel Blvd., where the
traffic is shunted from west side of the river to the east side (if
you're going north to south; opposite if you're proceeding south to
north). The complete absence of signage makes this confusing.

Otherwise, it's a great trip--just about 75 miles round trip.

Happy New Year!

Bernie
