Re: [bikepaths] San Gabriel River Trail

I have ridden the SGRT from the very top above Azuza and the Santa Fe Dam down to Legg Lake and have seen no apparent gang activity especially in the morning hours when I like to ride there, maybe only an occaisional homeless person minding their own business. I have also ridden south from Legg Lake to Long Beach and only saw a few individuals that might have been bangers but they were down in the wash hanging about with their friends and didn't seem to be bothering anybody. There are usually riders going up and down the path on a regular basis so the path is well traveled. Personally, if you are at all concerned, I believe it to be true that riding with a buddy or a small group will insure that you won't experience any trouble plus it's more fun to ride with a friend anyway, have fun and good riding to you,  Al.

Hi;

Is it safe to ride the SGabriel river trail the whole
way, from Monrovia to the beach?
I read on the internet that there are gang activities
along the way.  If so, do you guys know which sections
to look out for, other than broken glass on the bike
path?
I wanted to do this ride next time I visit my parents
in the area.
Thanks in advance,
Megan
