Children under age 9 are encouraged to be on a tag-a-long, bike trailer, tandem, or other safe child-carrying device.  Bring plenty of water and a snack too and some money just in case we stop to get a bite to eat during our rides.   Most of all bring your GOOD ATTITUDE and be prepared to meet some GREAT PEOPLE during a FUN ride thru the streets of LA!     MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THESE UPCOMING RIDES       THIS SATURDAY MAY 16th A TOUR OF TWO RIVERS 16 MILE BIKE RIDE AND HEALTH EXPO   *** There are also shorter rides for beginners of 2, 4 or 6 mile rides ***   We will Caravan (Drive) to Pioneer Park in El Monte from CHARO  Caravan will leave at 7:30AM   Registration in El Monte starts at 8am Ride leaves at 9am THIS RIDE COST $5.00   Eastside Bike Club members are encouraged to join and support this ride.   * The more experienced riders will RIDE their bikes from CHARO at 7am and meet the other members at Pioneer Park .   Registration forms can be picked up from the Eastside Bike Club or download online at http://elmonte.org/pdf/2009ElMonteBikeRallyRegistrationForm.pdf      MONDAY, MAY 25th (Memorial Day) at 5am LA MARATHON *** We will CARAVAN to the marathon at 3:30am Details to follow!     SATURDAY, MAY 30th 10AM EASTSIDE DIM SUM RIDE   *** We will be lead by Jackie Lau “Dimsum Extrodinaire” *** For a ride to a restaurant in the San Gabriel Valley . Jackie suggests to bring around $10 - $15 for a good feast!     SUNDAY JUNE 7th LA RIVER RIDE - 6 RIDES in ONE   The LA County Bike Coalition is hosting its 9th Annual LA RIVER RIDE START/FINISH in Griffith Park ! AUTRY CENTER , 4700 WESTERN HERITAGE WAY Start/finish location MAP (MapQuest).   10 MILE FAMILY RIDE This ride is perfect for families as the entire route is on a dedicated bike path on the river. For ages 7 and up. All Children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration starts at 10:00 a.m. Ride starts at 11:00 a.m.   36 MILE "TRAINING RIDE" - NEW THIS YEAR! From The Autry to Maywood Riverfront Park and back. You'll spend 10 miles on the river path and detour through downtown for the remaining miles. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. Ride starts at 8:30 a.m.   HALF CENTURY (50 MILES) From Griffith Park to the City of Paramount and return. Registration starts at 7:00 a.m. Ride starts at 8:00 a.m.   70 MILE RIDE "Park to Playa to Park" From Griffith Park to Shoreline Aquatic Park , Long Beach , and return. Registration starts at 7 a.m. Ride starts at 7:45 a.m. CENTURY (100 MILES) If you've never done one, this ride is perfect to try it.  The profile is very flat, very few inclines and none of them steep.  Registration starts at 6:30 a.m. Ride starts at 7:00 a.m. EASTSIDE BIKE CLUB MEMBERS are receiving a Club Discount Rate – Contact Chapulin at 323.221.7400 for details   KIDS' RIDE AND FUN FAIR This event, brought to you by the LA County Bike Coalition and Moms In Motion, will introduce young children to important bike safety lessons through fun, interactive activities.  Kids 6 and under will practice their riding techniques on a festive bike loop. Bikes and trikes are welcome - all riders must wear a helmet. Prizes and t-shirts for all registrants. $15 per child.
