Hello Cyclistas,
Here’s an update on the upcoming rides and a brief recap on what we have done.
On Saturday, February 7th about a dozen or so brave and determined members of the EASTSIDE BIKE CLUB rode in the 1st Annual Chinatown Firecracker 20 Mile Bike Ride. We gathered at the CHARO Building and road together to Chinatown for the ride.
We were happy to see that upon our arrival to Chinatown there were around another 150+ cyclist which also braved the elements of cold weather and rain. Let me tell everyone out there, the organizers of this ride did an outstanding job. They provided an efficient registration table to pick up our Goody Bags, T-Shirt and Bibs.
There was a motorcycle escort and plenty of ride monitors which assisted participants with any problems and road with the various groups of riders depending on the participant’s athletic ability, they also had volunteers at every major turn of the course to make sure no one got off the course they had, water, and banana stops.
At the end of the ride they had bike racks underneath tents in case of rain, a free beer garden to quench your thirst, a nice chow mien noodle meal, soft drinks and water. Overall a job well done. This ride will only get better with time and I think it promises to be one of LA’s best organized rides in the future. (I attached a couple of photos of the ride)
