Hi everyone-

This email is going to be a little different than the ones I normally send out. Some of you may already know this, but I will be leaving Penn State. My husband, Craig Dyer, who was a men’s volleyball assistant coach at Penn State, moved back to the women’s side of the game and took an assistant coaching job at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he has been working and living since March 1. I have continued to live and work here in State College and I will remain with the University through May 31 before moving to Wisconsin in early June.

It was a very hard decision for both of us, but it was a good opportunity for Craig and it will give me the chance to expand my horizons. I have a few opportunities that I’m looking into in the area, so I hope it all works out there. I’m also going to try to do some designing on the side for items such as programs, invitations, etc. It’s very weird to think that Saturday’s EIVA Championship match will be my last event in Rec Hall as I feel I’ve lived there during my eight years here. Essentially, I have, and I don’t even want to know how many miles I’ve logged in that building. I will (hypothetically-speaking, of course, with a win) be traveling with the men to Provo, Utah, as they attempt to defend their NCAA title, and Craig will be making the trip also to join Dean DeVore on the radio.

Craig and I will forever remember the great times and opportunities that Penn State has given us and know that we will always remain a part of the Penn State volleyball family. We will be joining both Booster Clubs (yes, you can quote me on that) and I’m sure we’ll try to make as many Old Black Water reunions as we can. I know one of Coach Rose’s main concerns with me leaving was that no one would be able to bring him cheese when the women traveled to Wisconsin, but as my parents still live in Portage (north of Madison and about an hour and a half from Milwaukee), I assured him that the cheese would still come at the end of game-day practice. He seemed to be ok with that.

So with that, I just wanted to give a semi-good-bye to everyone. I know I will see many of you this weekend at Rec Hall (Penn State vs. Juniata Saturday at 7pm for the EIVA title) or in Utah for the men’s championship (again, hypothetically-speaking, of course), but I just wanted to drop everyone a line since I’ve had a lot of people asking what was going on.

After May 31 please feel free to reach me at my other email address, jenarmson@... for anything. I am going to miss being around the players, parents, fans and boosters of both the men’s and the women’s programs. I consider all of you friends and will cherish my time here and the relationships I’ve formed. This is going to be very hard for me, leaving in the midst of such a great group of people and some great successes, but I know without a doubt that both will continue on their strong paths into the future. I look forward to attending matches and actually being able to cheer.

I do have one final request: Please be nice to the next SID. They have no idea what they’re getting in to!

Take care,
Jen

Jen,

Thanks for all you have done for Penn State, Big Ten, and EIVA volleyball. Your reports were most appreciated here on this list.

Wish you and Craig the best of luck up in Milwaukee.

Good luck to both you and Craig.  It has been a tough season with respect to the loss of you, Craig, and Selima.  I hope your successor is as dedicated as you and that they join the BigTen VB group.

Jen, we in the mailgroup are all of course very sad to hear you are leaving PSU, but delighted to hear of your future plans.  You’ve been a great part of this group – and I hope you stay with it!   I have no idea how the next SID will go as good a job as you.  Please also tell Pav and the men best of luck and we hope to see them in Provo.

Cheers

Rob

Jen, the best part of this move is if the Lions don't repeat as National Champs
this year, you can take the credit! Or the blame. Whichever appeals to you. ;)

Best of luck from a fan one state over from the new home.

Matt
